AristocraticMe:And those who have paid tax, what has the government done with it? In case you haven't noticed, the average Nigerian is his own local government. He provides his own water, he provides his own electricity, he makes payments for vigilantes to secure his home, he repairs the road that leads to his house through self help, he pays every inch of the way for his life...the same life that could be snatched at any moment by 1. Accidents on roads that are more like a death trap 2. Fulani herdsmen 3. Boko Haram terrorists 4. Police SARS 5. Armed robbers 6. Armed bandits and cattle rustlers. Among many others. |

AristocraticMe:Someone who gets it. Too bad I have just one like to give your post. To add some meat to the bones 1. Our tax to GDP ratio is 5.8 %. South Africa is 23% 2. We spent less than $3 billions on education. South Africa is spending $23 billion. The problem is Nigerians want awoof. |

FrLukas:That's because our income from tax and oil is not enough to meet our needs. It can't even find our security apparatus well enough Nigeria has a tax to GDP ratio of 5.8% South Africa has a tax to GDP ratio of 23%. Nigeria is spending 26 billion dollars on the budget for this year and we have to borrow. South Africa is spending 23 billion dollars on education alone. And SA is corrupt big time. (Just google Jacob Zuma). The looting is happening because most of the money being looted is not coming from tax. |
