What's your location? If Lagos? I could add the quantity you need to mine on my next bookings. But you must be ready to come pick it up though.

I just have to say this, the ever rising prices of DOC coupled with high cost of feed from N3600 to N4000 (broiler finisher/starter), N2800 to N3200 (grower mash) per 25kg bag, the chicken production business seems to be on the verge of collapse for small-scale producers like us.
For the love of God, wetin make prices of broilers dey peak N350 to N400 (even sold for N450 last year)? Even noilers? angry

I'm telling you. I had not done this business in a while (for like 6 months), and went to the market yesterday to be shocked by the ourageous prices. 4 weeks Noilers I used to buy for 300-350 now sell for 650 naira. If you see how fast I walked away from the first person that told me that, only to be told the same price everywhere else. And I had already budgeted buying the 4 weeks Noilers for at least 350 naira. I also bought bag of starter for 4,100 instead the normal 3,600 I used to buy it at my area in Ibadan.

What the hell is happening.

cheesy @350. That's almost the price of Broiler DOC cry . With the prices of feeds skyrocketing, N650 is a fair deal if you ask me.

I think it all boils to the demands & the major players in the hatchery business ( power issues too not exempted). Nevertheless, broiler prices hitting 350 - 450 is simply outrageous.

Absolutely!!!
The brooder temperature is just right, for them. At the moment, I have even replaced the bulbs with energy saving lightings.

Oh! On that, electricity is relatively stable over here. As a matter of fact, I can't remember going through the nights without power.

Quick Facts

Let me share it here also as discussed with the few who asked on my telegram;

Using 100 DOC as a reference point

Price of Day old chicks(Doc) - 280 per chick i.e 100 chicks x 280 = N28,000

Average feed that will be consumed per bird for 4weeks=.49kg

Total Feed that will be consumed for 4weeks = 0.49 x 100 chicks =49kg

Total feed that will be consumed in 25kg bags for 4weeks=49kg/25kg= approx. 2bags

COST OF FEEDING
Cost of feed per bag= N3,900 (current price)

Total cost of Feed that will be consumed for 4weeks = 3,900 x 2 = N7,800

DRUGS AND VACCINES
Lets keep it at N5,000

Miscellaneous /Transportation:
Let's put transportation cost for each cartons at 1,000 x 2 = N2000
Miscellaneous = N3,000
Total = 2,000 + 3,000 = N5,000

TOTAL PRODUCTION COST
28,000 (cost of total birds) + 7,800 (cost of feeds for 4 weeks) + Medication/Drugs 5,000 + miscellaneous/Transportation 5,000 = 45,800

Unit price of Chick at 4 week old = N750

Let's work with 90 birds (approx. 10 mortality: This is high though.)
i.e 90 (no. of chicks at 4 weeks) x 750 = N67,500

Gross Profit: N67,500 - N45,800 = N21,700. In 4weeks brood and sell.

NOTE: Production cost can further be reduced with experience.

I hope I have been able to do justice to a certain extent.

Thank you so much for this breakdown. i was wondering if this is applicable to broilers too, because the last time i stock in about 100 broilers for 4weeks they consumed about 11 bags of feeds. i will really appreciate some respond on how to maximise feed consumption.

TURKEY MANUAL NOW AVAILABLE TO HELP YOU!

If you've ever wanted to raise turkeys from day-old, this is what you need to do it right!

We know that raising turkeys from day old is not the same as raising chickens. And if you don't know yet, thank God you didn't have to learn the hard way. Those who have tried and failed can tell you that Poults (young turkeys) can be likened to stupid birds on a suicide mission. But I tell you that they came to that conclusion because they handled turkeys like they would handle day-old chicks.

Well, this book is the difference! Follow me and let me show you how to succeed at raising day-old turkeys. And not just that. I will walk you through everything that makes the turkey special and how to maximize their potential on your own farm, regardless of what others are saying or achieving.

If you didn't know the secret about turkey feeding, mating, and their special body parts, this is where it's all hidden. This book unlocks my years of experience and gives your the keys to turkey secrets.

INCLUDES EXCLUSIVE ORGANIC FEED FORMULA FOR TURKEY FOR ALL GROWTH STAGES

@Isey4u

Using 1.5kg consumption chart for broilers (I usually do 1.25kg jare), that's;

1.5kg x 100 (broiler chicks for 4 weeks) = 150kg

25kg per bag of Broiler starter i.e: 150/25 = 6 bags , give or take 7 bags. This will do just fine. Nevertheless, the number of weeks to cull them is also a determinant factor biko. For me, I just do am jejely.
