Interesting definition of fantasy but fantasies are unlikely to happen, dreams can be easier to fulfill. This is the distinction I would draw between dreams and fantasies. What about the man who lives a near-perfect life? Does he need fantasy?

I love the example with the clean bedsheets. cheesy But I would always choose to lie on them to enjoy the sensation that comes with the freshness and comfort. smiley smiley

blue bold
The quote resonates with me on a very deep level. It's a definition I would have never thought of on my own.

Fantasies , dreams, thoughts, imagination, goals, ambitions, wishes are really all similar Hathor5. Desire is the trade name of the firm

Some things are sacred, a person's innermost and usually selfish desires is one of them.

I have never thought of my desires in this way but I respect that.

Well then how about we delve into the pleasures your fantasy and we check in maybe a fresh pair of objective eyes
may spot the loophole.

I asked you for your vision of a perfect world, remember?

My vision of a perfect world is a world without sickness first and foremost. I can tell you more but I am not sure it's that interesting.

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

A novel about race relations and police violence in the US. Thomas smartly captured the complexity of the topic by avoiding to present the situation in terms of good and evil. The book does not only touch on race and its impact on people's behavior but also on the role of education and social class in the lives of the black community. The many characters are a good representation of the diversity within the black community and their problems as well as successes. There are allusions to popular culture and historical events which make the book lively and a celebration of Black art and entertainment. The plot could have more suspense but the book will leave you thinking as it does not offer simple solutions or definite answers.

I just currently finished Behind Closed Doors, debut Novel of Nigerian author Kingsley Adrian Banks. It was gifted to me in return for an honest review.

The blurb:

What would you do if you were a homosexual in a country where being gay is severely frowned upon and considered a taboo? What is the ultimate price to pay if you were different, gay?

Lagos playboy, son of an ex-beauty Queen; and sole heir to the Johnson fortune, Henry Johnson, is facing a stunning controversy because of his sexual orientation . . . He loves men, yet the thought disgusts him and throws him into turmoil, that is, until he encounters Phoenix, a bisexual male stripper and prostitute who is wildly ambitious and will do anything to climb the social ladder. Phoenix is the one man that opens his eyes to the taste of the forbidden fruit, to what it feels like to hold another man, to kiss another man, and to bed another man.

One taste of the forbidden gay fruit and Henry knows he's trapped. Trapped between Society's expectations, his duty to his family, and his hidden love of men. Set against the backdrop of a sprawling, decadent Lagos City, and from there to the outer edges of Eastern Nigeria, where being gay is unimaginable, a gay romance unthinkable, the consequences of being caught frighteningly debilitating and cripplingly suicidal, Behind Closed Doors is a story of hidden passions that take hold in the dark where same sex love thrives.

Henry will be forced to look deep within himself to unearth the man beneath, to make the toughest decisions of his life as it concerns Phoenix, a young man whose destiny becomes irremovably entwined in his. He will have to question everything he holds dear, everything Society has taught him. He will be forced to question his very existence.

My Take:

This book is...painful to read, to be honest.

Nigerian literature has always been a delight so I must read this book and it seems the author has the potential to meet my expectation that Nigerian authors are among the world's best.

Ben Okri's "The Famished Road" is a must read. Tells the tale of a spirit child(Abiku) that refuses to be reincarnated. Azaro:the child, falls in love with living. He decises to shun the endless cycle of rebirth despite the sinister efforts of his spirit companions. It weaves through extreme poverty, undying parental love and sadness. Set in the ghetto of a west African city during pre independence times. I rate the book 10/10.Ben okri is a Nigerian fantasy writer.

I know Ken Follet but I am always reluctant to get mainstream authors because mainstream authors appeal to a wider audience and the wider audience usually does not have very high standards when it comes to literature. I might give the author a chance though. For now I have a big pile of books still to be opened.

I understand you but if you fancy historical Christian fictions, you will like Ken. Especially during medieval times, I love histories a lot not only African's but other origins too, it is enlightening and I am very picky.

viciati, thank you again, I am working on a project about religious crusade across board. This will help. wink

I am like done reading legal thrillers. John grisham initiated me, Victor Methos ended the ride with some other authors in-between.The legal thrillers was a nice ride i must say.So yesterday i googled greatest books ever written, i found a site that listed 30.I have read like 10 of them, on a quest to read the other 20.I am currently reading Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. Will rate it once i am done.

I love Historical Christian Fictions. Francine Rivers' Mark of Cain series set the tone for me. Please recommend one of Ken's books I should start with.
