Is It Raining In Your Area? by Wierdceo: 9:06am On Aug 11, 2020
For several weeks now, there has been no rain here in Edo state. Crops are not growing well. The weather is just very cold both day and night like it's harmattan. I want to know if its only here? Is it raining in your state or area?

The last rain I noticed was late July. In July it literally rained either everyday or every two days. I'm talking about heavy downpour. July was unbearably cold at morning and at night, with cool noons. July was just man! Spirogyra con dey grow for my compound, the grasses were sprouting up quick. This August I've not seen one centimetre of rainfall. It is 9;29am here in abakaliki, ebonyi state.

Exactly the same here. Is nature planning to starve us or something?

If the situation persists the draught will lead to crop failure and famine in the land. This is not good at all coming along side with the covid_19 pandemic. I believe government should resucitate the river basins for extensive irrigation farming and give support to Farmers to acquire drip irrigation facilities

Same here in Osun state. I have been asking people around so as to know if I'm not abnormal (the only one around thinking it's weird). It has affected all my maize and the vegetables I planted did not even grow undecided.
Is there any farmer who can advise on what to do so as to save my crops?

If you don't have borehole in your farm, I don't know if there's anything you can do other than wait for rain.

There is a road construction going on in where I stay in Edo state and I have been hearing that they normally hold the rain from falling so it would not disturb the road construction. I thought it was them preventing the rain from faling all this while. I have laid all type of curses on those people but I just decided to see if it's only my area been affected and it seems like it's a nation-wide matter o. Am still waiting for information from north about the matter .

Is it now possible for them to hold a lot of states at ransom?

My farm is inside my farm and we have well but I don't know how to go about the irrigation. Do I have to buy water pump and hose? Just priced it and they said the water pump is 40k while hose is 35k. I don't have that kind of money now as it's a bit on the high side. Do you have any more suggestion please? It's around 1200 heaps.

If u have water in your farm and it's very close to where you can be going there frequeantly, you can be be pouring water on it manually even before you buy the Hose and pump. U don't have to spend that kind of money. U can just wet the whole place very well one day and then u can do it maybe 3 or 4 or 5days later again. It's hardwork but it's better than doing nothing. Get buckets, look for small rubbers and wet it like we use to wet the ground to prevent dust in school those days. You need enough water. Less than 7hours you're done if you have somebody fetching the water for you. It's actually fun. Man gats look for other ways to do things o.
