Hello All,

Please can you recommend an HMO for me. Need to change from my current one.
I need one that's not too expensive and efficient, with coverage in Lagos, Delta and Benue states

Try United Healthcare International, they are present in almost all the states and they are very good and reliable.

Have you decided on another HMO to use? Could you please share your experience(s) with the previous one. I ask because the nature of my job demands I work with and monitor the activities of accredited HMOs.

@Gboliwe, Yet to decide. Previously I used Unichealth which was quite okay except for one time I called for an ambulance and was questioned on the phone for about 20 mins and the ambulance was not provided.
I am yet to decide on a new one.
Can you recommend some?

Hi Gboliwe

That's good, a neighbour of mine works in a hospital and they have a couple of HMOs they blacklisted due to non-payment for over 4months. Its good if someone checks their activities.

My current challenge is getting HMOs that take individuals especially the elderly with chronic conditions e.g diabetes and glaucoma. Although patients are managing their conditions well and are very active I would like them to be able to get tests and check-ups done without paying out of pocket.

Am not too sure, but you can try AVON HEALTH or MANSARD..

Avon
Mansard
Hygeia
Zenith

All reliable though premiums are high and conditions follow. but better when its under corporate , they do not all do individual plans though. And when they do prices are from 40k-60k per person per annum. I can speak for these ones because of referrals from both patients and hospitals.

I'm still researching other lower costs HMOs for individuals under 40years.

My biggest challenge now is HMOs that take individual plans for ppl over 65 with chronic conditions, so far premiums I've seen are over 100kplus

What state and region is this? That HMO I told you about in the other post, they manage such elderly patients for N40k per annum.

In fairness to the HMOs, it isn't within their scope to provide ambulance services for their enrollees. It's the job of your primary healthcare facility. Yes, they can influence the attention and urgency the facility gives it (t request) but they can't singlehandedly provide ambulance for you.

I can recommend the HMO I use but I don't want to appear biased on others so send me a PM.

The one you recommended I spoke with them and they sent me the hospital list but unfortunately none is within reach of the people I need it for. State is Lagos.
