how will he know passport is ready for collection?

Pls guys share your experience on how you knew your passport was ready for collection.

I went there after 2 weeks with my slip.

Went straight to collections and sat down on the bench,
The officer addressing us asked people to submit the slip , then once passports were ready He called out our names.

I did it for my my parents and wife, and it's had been via phone calls.
But they do send messages to others.
