First of all let me give you a brief history into my new acquisition.

Mileage as at leaving the USA was 153,387miles.

I got the baby @ 154,900 miles from the Nigerian user.

Engine and transmission were in great shape, air-conditioning (needed gas ) , tyres looked great sadly all uniform winter specifications , interior was fair, but a good cleaning would make it look better. Body looked great and free from dents and scratches.


Got the car and said farewell to the seller in asaba.


Journey begins .

GAZZUZZ:
The Exhaust system. Someone here in Nigeria had cut open the exhaust , stolen the catalyst and filled it with wire mesh.


While the panel beater was working i bypassed the brake lines.


You have to read small to understand the piping diagrams.

V stands for front and H for rear (from brake master) v and h stand for front and rear pipes to wheels.

Did the bypass and waited for the panlebeter to finish so i could bleed the brakes

Engine bay needed cleaning, unfortunately you don't just pour water into this baby (woe betide you if you do ) careful cleaning of components and spraying a coat of the right colour of paint on faded parts.

Time for air-conditioning...

Car came with a dysfunctional air-conditioning system so diagnosis starts.

First things first , let's see if the system leaks using our vacuum pump.

Note the AC connectors are old sch R12 type

Got the a/c gauges connected and pulled a vacuum. I looked for the high line but could not find it, so I worked with the low line only.
