Osinbajo Advocates Videoconferencing Software For Nigerian Courts by Joylove2324(op): 4:59pm On Aug 20, 2020
The Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), has called on technology companies in the country to develop special videoconferencing software for virtual hearing of cases in Nigerian courts.

According to Osinbajo, the common videoconferencing software, such as Zoom and Skype, may not the best for courts in the country.

The Vice-President pledged the support of the Federal Government for indigenous technology companies, including those working with the judiciary.

Osinbajo said this last week in his keynote address at the legal-tech conference with the theme, “A new paradigm in justice delivery,” jointly organised by LawPavilion Business Solutions Limited and TELNET Nigeria Limited.

The virtual conference was attended by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad; the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr Paul Usoro (SAN); and the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, among others.

In his remarks, Osinbajo said with the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, things would never be the same again and called on the judiciary to embrace new thinking and new ways, adding that the court needed purpose-built videoconferencing software.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria is committed to doing everything possible to support our tech companies, especially those that are concerned with the administration of justice,” Osinbajo said as he called for “retraining of our judicial personnel, lawyers and our legal staff.”

He commended the LawPavilion team for their resourcefulness and the hard work leading, noting that “almost on a yearly basis, the LawPavilion team has consistently introduced new technology products for justice delivery. We are all extremely proud of you.”

The Managing Director of LawPavilion, Mr Ope Olugasa, said the firm was “determined to bring more innovative technologies that will remove those age-old hurdles faced in the dispensation of justice,” in Nigerian courts.

One of the major highlights of the virtual conference was the launch of the Lagos State e-Laws on the LawPavilion E-bookstore by Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the state Attorney General, Mr Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN).

The governor commended LawPavilion for its “unwavering exploits aimed at accelerating justice system through technological innovation.”

The feeling you get when you think of something amazing then forget it and know that it felt amazing but you can’t remember the details. Then, minutes later, you remember it again and you’re so grateful because you nearly lost something amazing, forever. Except, this time, it’s a person. Not an idea.

cool

Nigerian Government needs to invest heavily on software development, Judiciary needs a functional software system connected to the Federal police software system

Management information systems are digital everywhere and has far more advantages than carrying files up and down

Nigeria needs a more comprehensive database system

Should Professor Osinbajo appear on the ballot papers he has my vote 100%

Re: Osinbajo Advocates Videoconferencing Software For Nigerian Courts by socialmediaman:
What special features do they need? This will cost Nigeria some billions of Naira, because it will pass through many fraudulent budget-padded bureaucratic channels.

Use a paid zoom account, the functionality is already provided and is used in courts in various countries worldwide.

If I remember correctly, Maurice Iwu bought INEC computers for about 1 million Naira each, while Fashola designed a website for N10 million Naira.
Re: Osinbajo Advocates Videoconferencing Software For Nigerian Courts by 00cyberghost(m):
since we are talking about innovative tech. I have a social club management system that I developed for nigeria social clubs.
some of the features include
1. Members can register on the website.
2. The registration of the member will be pending and he can't have access to the website until the admin confirms or rejects his membership.
3.members can send message to each other within the website and update their profile including their pictures.
4. The admin can see each members profile and can alter it.
5.The admin sets monthly dues for club members.
6. When this due is set, the system automatically sends an email message to the email of every registered member stating the month of the monthly due and the amount to be paid.
7. Members can reply the email and it lands at the inbox of the admin.
8.The admin can update the monthly due status of each member that has paid. This will reflect on the dashboard of the member.
9. The admin can see members that has paid and those that have not paid their monthly due.
10.The admin can send email message to each, selected or all members informing or reminding them of meeting dates, club activities etc.
12.At the end of each meeting or month the admin can prepare a word or excel document which shows club expenditure, income etc. The admin can upload this documents for the members to download.
13. The admin can also upload audio recording of meetings for download by members who were not physically present at such meeting.
14. Etc.
Extra features to be added on the next update include: automatic SMS reminder for meetings. Paystack integration for payment of club dues and automatic confirmation of payment.

You can also register and confirm yourself with the above admin account so that you can witness the automated email sending.

please contact me with the number on my profile so that I can give you the link to the website to see for yourself how everything works

Can the Vice president also let us develop a software to fight corruption?..

I would have recommended a computer for president bubu but he will probably think it's a plasma TV.
