haymekus:Who says it can't happen to any team? Then you don't know anything about football. No team is immune to that, it just cannot happen to every club. You forget how Madrid(with Ramos and Ronaldo) beat Juve 3-0 in the first leg in 2018 and then Juve were leading them in the second leg by 3 nil until they had to be saved by a controversial 89 minute penalty to go tru? You don't know football. |

tesppidd:But since time immemorial the examples given are these two legged ties. Your team capitulated 4 years in a row to better teams and underdogs alike and worse still against all odds. LEADERSHIP is UNDERRATED by your clouded sentiment. |

Reports saying Messi bluntly told Koeman he doesn't see himself at Barca next season? ![]() Well this is it follks. Destiny has arrived.

haymekus:Would Barca defence capitulate like that during Puyols days even when he was aging? He is too scared to say anything against Messi. THAT HAS ALWAYS BEEN HIS CROSS. Saying it does not mean you hate him mr tesspidd |

usbcable:You did not have the lead when Juve pulled back from a 3 nil deficit and you had to be saved by an 89th minute penalty abi? Tell me you still win the game. Tell me! Don't give me that carp about already had the advantage. Motivating is not only when you already have an advantage. Even when you have a disadvantage it is still called motivating. The word hasn't changed. You can't redefine the word. You must be able to motivate your team back to victory even when you're down by 1 nil. |
| Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by usbcable(m): 7:59pm On Aug 20, 2020 |
tesppidd:If you well recall despite being 3-nil down Ronaldo was still edging the boys on. Not that it guarantees anything but its tells the others not to loose faith. during battles you will see the platoon captain urge the infantry on even though he knows they have little or no chance of winning but alas luck can shine on them and by that stroke get a chance to win the battle and even at times the war no one is saying MESSI is the problem. even someone said if Pique could be more with commandeering the defence that would be enough. |

tesppidd:the tam did not lower their heads during the match. even at that you cant compare to Thunder striking 4 years in a fucking row. that is not normal at all |
| Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by tesppidd: 8:01pm On Aug 20, 2020 |
usbcable:Nonsense. Leadership is also when your team is 1 nil down. And you motivate them to turn the game around. Not only 2 legged ties. Why are you clowning tonight usb.? |
| Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by tesppidd: 8:05pm On Aug 20, 2020 |
usbcable:It's quite silly you want to narrow the problems down to leadership. It is very foolish to narrow the Roma, Liverpool and Bayern disasters and say it was because of lack of leadership in the pitch. All because you want to put it all down to one man. And you have people patronising you here that's why. A very myopic set of fans. |

![]() Ramos has been in Madrid for over 12 years. Why doesn't he have 12 UCLs with his leadership qualities? Pure and absolute nonsense |
| Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by FirstbornWds: 9:46pm On Aug 20, 2020 |
TLona1:This same Ramos struck the last header that led to a goal against ATM in the UCL. He took down Salah, albeit expertly, to weaken a fierce Liverpool's attack in the UCL final. This same Ramos, won the UCL, threes time back to back and you say he's not a leader? How about the Euros and WC in 2012/10? How many times will something happen to you without learning? Barcelona was hammered 4 consecutive years and nothing serious was done both on and off the pitch. A single goal or thorough defending could have saved us all these embarrassments. Charging players to continue even in the face of dilemma is obviously not a bad idea. What happened to the never say die attitude that we exhibited against PSG in Camp Nou? We have lost the touch of vocal/physical leadership both on and off the pitch and that's the fact. No need to stress nonsense. We need more than just talent... We need a vocal leader. A fighter, that knows when to tell his teammates to continue even in the face of troubles. |

FirstbornWds:All these yet he still has fewer trophies than Gerrard Pique. Maybe we can call Pique a better leader then since that's the yardstick for knowing a good leader. You made mention of the back2back2back UCL victories.. Okay that's fine but the question is how about the other seasons He didn't win the UCL with Madrid? The sooner you realise that Barcelona's recent form in the UCL is psychological and not about leadership qualities, the better. The mentality and morale they carry to the pitch especially when they play away is what they should change. If that isn't changed, no amount of leadership qualities will stop these embarrassment. |

tesppidd:Mehn, guy you talk too much, Barcelona played a full Liverpool squad and won 3-0, all the players that played the return leg were rested and Liverpool had 2 key players (firmino & salah) injured, not minding the fact that they also played their first eleven that Saturday evening. So guy tell me how the fûck these Barcelona players were tired, and also tell me how the hell these guys were not good, but they won by 3-0 in the first leg?? |

These cules, they hate when you tell them the truth.. |
| Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by TLona1: 10:49pm On Aug 20, 2020 |
haymekus:It's the low morale and weak mentality they carry to the pitch when they play away. I tell you, this isn't about any form of the leadership quality you guys are making look like.. |
| Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by Nobody: 10:51pm On Aug 20, 2020 |
tesppidd:They still won right? Mind you Madrid stood up to that same juve, just that Buffon was superb on that night What the hell did Barcelona do in the second leg against Roma and Liverpool?

TLona1:And it’s who’s responsible to boast the morale of the team? The president from the stands or the ball boys or better still the stewards Guy think first joor |

Zeemuthafuka:As in I just shame reading that comment. he just nailed what we have been trying to make him realise sinceeeee. Again, I honestly dont know how to put this without looking like a hater. I have long realised Messi is not the vocal type. I recall posting here years back then about giving him the arms band despite he talks little. its his nature not to talk a lot in front of cameras. so its not a bad thing but in certain scenarios you need such vocality. Terry - Chelsea Gerrard - Liverpool Maldini - AC Milan Viera - Arsenal Keane - Man Utd Khan - Bayern Barca - Puyol we all cant be the same but considering the fact that same shit is coming from his comrades on the pitch fro years in a row he needs call them to order. but again as he leads with delivering goals the least is that the like of Pique should be more in leading the backline at least. In Real Madrid we have same issue with Varane. Despite spending this much years with Ramos dude hardly says much on the pitch which is why no one trust him to lead well when Ramos is not around. Sadly he did not disappoint against Man City |
| Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by TLona1: 11:16pm On Aug 20, 2020 |
haymekus:They should get their sh1t together and fix what needs to be fixed. From Roma's 4-1 lead to Liverpool's 3-0 lead what happened? How did these comebacks come about? I doubt if teams second tier teams like Sevilla and Tottenham would bottle these leads but does that mean they're better than Barcelona? Hell No Something's wrong somewhere |

| Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by jpmoriarti(m): 7:10am On Aug 21, 2020 |
Me, I won't kill myself if Messi decides to leave the club. The last four years has been hell for Barcelona in UCL and Messi, with all his might and power, couldn't even do anything about it. Now, he's 33. Way over the peak of his career. I'll say Barcelona should start getting over him. I don't think he can still be of much help if he continues to stay. Maybe the over reliance on a 33 yr old, has caged other potential leaders from rising from the team. I can't remember how many times Bayern robbed the ball off him the other day but Messi couldn't care chasing back. One or two of that chance lead to goal. Maybe Messi is part of the problem in Barcelona today. I no longer see him as a solution. |
| Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by jpmoriarti(m): 7:24am On Aug 21, 2020 |
haymekus:Nothing. Messi and Co were just strolling around while a second tier liverpool, with belief and vigour, kept pushing for more goals. Same thing happened against Bayern, Roma, Juventus. Apart from sentiments and emotions, I don't think Messi should still remain after the pending squad clearance. He hasn't offered much to the team when the UCL tide are against the team in the last four years. It is very convenient to keep blaming the board while most of players including Messi keep churning out incredibly shameful performances after shameful performance in UCL. |
| Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by jpmoriarti(m): 7:35am On Aug 21, 2020 |
usbcable:I agree 100% with you. We Barcelona fans are too emotionally attached to Messi. I'll say he's part of the problem today. No longer the solution. Bayern robbed several balls off him the other day. Dude didn't even bother chasing back and one or two led to goal. Messi has been a disaster as captain of Barcelona. He doesn't urge the team on when morale is down. Four years of pain in Europe has all happened under watchful eyes of Messi. |
| Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by FirstbornWds: 9:40am On Aug 21, 2020 |
jpmoriarti:Now this is getting extreme. We've started neglecting what the real argument is. Saying Messi doesn't deserve to be in the team overhaul is way too much. We won't even have a morale if he's not there. This guy single-handedly took us past Utd, Chelsea, Roma(First-leg), Liverpool(First-leg), and even Napoli (this season). My problem with him now is; he needs to start stepping up vocally and start being physical when it appears that all he has labored for is going into shambles. He needs to start letting his teammates know that he's human and not alien who wouldn't mind what happens next. He needs to start allowing them know that, although he's still the best, they need to start complimenting his efforts by putting in more work, themselves. They should be able to pick him up when down. These are what I am fighting for, not Messi leaving the team. He still has a LOT to offer us. |
