It is most definitely fake.

Gino was the surviving brand for low-middle class Nigerians, after the market was saturated with so many fake tomato puree. Some are so fake that they can alter the taste of your stew.

That was when I started doing away with tin tomatoes. The money you used to buy 2rows, next time use it to buy enough fresh tomatoes and tatashe/shombo. Blend and steam it. Refrigerate and use whenever you want to make stew or jollof rice.

I miss the days of De Rica sha. embarassed

Thanks o. I will do that. This one is so glaring, look at the colour. This is why so many people end up having terminal diseases. Only God knows what they mixed together and put there.

It is o, but you won’t see it in your neighbourhood store. Feels like luxury now. There is this other one that I am struggling to remember the name, had “pep” as the suffix.

Lol. I always thought the sachet was lower quality and for students. Finally got to discover it was just convenient and easier to use. Opening tins is a chore to many people.

When you start making these things yourself at home ehn, you will almost get paranoid because you’ll notice the difference in taste/look. You’ll begin to question the composition of readymade ones. grin grin grin

You bought tomato mix
Not double concentrated tomato puree.
I do buy too until I noticed that the taste and smell are odd. It contains some chemicals scary
The guy I purchased spices from told me that tomato mix is different. I checked all the paste that day and I saw a big difference.
Even the new De Rica in the market changed to mix.
They do this cos of those that uses it and grind pepper to cook.
