tesppidd:How do you evaluate Messi on-field leadership skill especially when things are going all wrong for the team? If he remains with the team, no one can strip the captain armband from him. So for us to move forward as a club, I think it is in the interest of everyone if he leaves. The earlier we rid ourselves of his dependency, the better for the club. Last four years have been a disaster. We can't keep doing same thing while expecting different results. |

Messi's reaction to losing is to leave. What kind of leader can't handle a lose. Same stunt he pulled in Argentina. Barca wants to blow away another hundred million. I hope my Madrid capitalize of the wreck occurring in Barcelona |

jpmoriarti:I have been quiet about this point all the while, But I have never heard, seen or thought that only the guy wearing the captains arm band is legally permitted to motivate a bunch of 10 other players when such is needed on the pitch. If Messi failed to motivate them and then more vocal figures like Pique, Mascherano (then), Alba, Vidal, Suarez went on to yell, scream and gesticulate in motivation of the team mates, what's gonna happen? They would be fined a week's wages by the club for motivating the team when Messi didn't? Or the players are not gonna get motivated because he isn't with the arm band? Which? Okay; The best player in the team by a very very very very very wide margin should be sold because he doesn't shout and scream on the pitch. Fine, we have heard. |

BlueAngel444:Una see them again? If he doesn't leave he is scared of challenges, he doesn't want to leave his comfort zone. But when he decides to leave he is a bad loser who wants to leave because of a loss. Dont blame them though, we keep patronizing these trolls. |

tesppidd:I don't know why you're holding onto Messi. We'll survive without. Another star will rise to lead the team. It is true it will be almost impossible to replace him but we have to move on. Real Madrid have already moved on from Ronaldo. It is time we did same. Messi best days are well and truly over. Anything else from him is jara. |

For Barcelona fans wanting Messi to leave so we can build a younger, formidable team, I hope you remember that it has cost Barcelona zillions of dollars to get a replacement of Neymar. Have we really found any yet? How.about Iniesta, Xavi, and Puyol? We still haven't found any. Ronaldinho's departure wasn't felt because we already had a stabilized replacement... Brothers, we seem to have become unnecessarily unapologetic and unappreciative of what the "little magician" has done for us over the years. We need a better team, yes, but not at the expense of Messi. |

jpmoriarti:Of course his best days are over. He was 22 now he's 33. But you're not asking for his release because his best days are over. You are asking for his release because he doesn't shout on his team mates on the pitch. Is it not disgusting that his worst days at 33 are still better than the best days of the other players? Messi's worst days at 33 better than your future of Griezman, Dembele and Fati. Disgusting indeed. Take Messi out, we don't even have any top 10 best player in the world at this club. Or your club will buy Mbappe or Neymar or De Bryune, Salah, Mane or even Hazard sef.? Abi you are depending on Griezman or glass man Dembele? ![]() You guys are just displaying some nonsense arrogance on this Messi issue. The arrogance is nauseating. Even one top 10 player you don't have. Una eye go clear. |
| Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by tesppidd: 10:43am On Aug 23, 2020 |
FirstbornWds:What I perceive is arrogance.. "We are Barca" It's nothing but sheer arrogance. Never before has Barca been this much of a one man club. Ronaldinho played with Deco, Xavi and Etoo before handing to Messi, Xavi and Iniesta. At a point we had MSN with good Suarez. Neymar left, and Suarez died. Instead of wishing for the club to bring in quality players who can complement Messi, the only quality one we have we are asking him out. |

jpmoriarti:Last four years was not a disaster, just failures in champions league. You would understand what a disaster is when you sell the person you've admitted to still be the best player in the world just because he's not vocal on the pitch. You would understand that a team can be royally bleeped Messi can help rebuild, use his last year's to make Barcelona, phase himself out slowly and gradually. You want to sell someone that can still give his best at the highest level. |
| Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by homesteady(m): 10:55am On Aug 23, 2020 |
Part of the reasons why Barcelona has been a mess is because Neymar was sold unexpectedly and now you people are really saying that Messi should leave? Are you guys not thinking of the grave consequences? We have a new Coach that has a bad track record, and you want to sell the only player that can drag a badly managed team to success or near success? Is it not on this same thread that some of us are advocating for Busquets and Pique to stay at the club because of their experience, and you people really want Messi to leave? ![]() Besides, why should we even strengthen another team with such a player? Please you guys should weigh the advantages and disadvantages before making some decisions. |

Sommyroy10:Sell a player who can guarantee us 50 Goals + Assists for another 3 years and keep those who can even produce 15 Goals because he does not shout on the pitch. Mtchew. |
| Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by Debroslink: 11:34am On Aug 23, 2020 |
The nonsense I read on this thread ehn... It's really pathetic. Why should Messi leave? If Messi leaves, let him be the one to decide that; not that we should sell a player who can still guarantee 50 goals and assists. Change the damn tactics( |

Where does Messi even want to go , who will even pay the amount required to sign a player on 1m per week Messi wants to leave must be a stunt if not then that's the biggest news since Ronaldo moved, Neymar, Ozil and Sanchez joining Arsenal (lol who would have thought ), Hazard, Lewandoski, Mbappe. Moves that shook football in a way.Let us understand Messi in a moment, finished trophless ✔ disgraced in UCL again ✔ 8 2 add this but Neymar makes UCL final and may win it ✔ The mental torture of it all ![]() Messi needs motivation, something to get his footballing boots excited that's why he likely said he doesn't see himself in Barcelona next season. He should be a leader and sink with his ship or move to Italy the home of retired star players still seeking glory in Europe or USAsigning Messi would cost atleast £150m, forget he is 33years then paying him atleast £30m per year only Man City can pull this off, I would like to see Messi in EPL even just for 3 or 1 season |

Debroslink:it's not necessarily a tactic, it's psychologic. Only a top coach can break it. Luis Enrique did something that helped Barca and made Neymar and Suarez shine. Barca wasn't Messi dependent and that made them then dangerous. That Enrique's team remove Messi Suarez and Neymar would still shine and until a manager can think without Messi lol. See the Spanish team Enrique called. Why should a team that has Greizmann a world cup winner and top la liga player, Coutinho, who asides from Neymar is Brazil's top attacker still be scared to kick Messi's behind. see how barca don turn Argentina .how can oga director say Suarez is not wanted and Messi will be happy about it. That's how Bayern almost lost Muller until Flick showed up. If Messi wants to leave isn't it better to let him leave, the whole team will just reflect his unhappiness. Imagine Koeman asking for Depay or Richarlson is it enough to vex man nainstead of looking for a CB. Coutinho and Greizmann in form can both produce 20 or more goals and assists each. Instead of Koeman to state how he wants to make use of recent purchases he wants new ones #Confusion |

It could be a crucial week ahead with
regards to the future of Lionel Messi, with
the Argentinean star still said to be
seriously considering his position at
Barcelona.
The rumour mill has gone into overdrive
ever since his side's humiliating 8-2 loss to
Bayern Munich, with some reports claiming
it has convinced the six-time Ballon d'Or
winner that the time has come to seek a
new challenge after 16 glorious years at
the Nou Camp.
But while the Bayern result may have been
the straw that broke the camel's back,
Messi's unhappiness at the club appears to
have been building up over the last year or
so for a number of reasons. Barcelona-based publication Mundo Deportivo have highlighted five key factors which they believe have contributed to the star's disillusion at the Catalan giants. Firstly, the club's failure to re-sign Messi's former teammate Neymar last summer despite strong rumours the PSG forward would make a dramatic return to the Nou Camp is said to have upset him, with Messi having formed a lethal partnership with the Brazilian during his time in Barcelona. Instead, they splashed the cash on French international Antoine Griezmann in a big- money move from Atletico Madrid. Things haven't worked out for the player so far, however, and his relationship both on and off the pitch with Messi has yet to spark. Messi was also thought to be against the sacking of previous manager Ernesto Valverde in January. The team were in poor form, but Messi had a good relationship with the coach and felt convinced he would be able to turn it around. Valverde's dismissal led to sporting director Eric Abidal's criticism of the effort of the players in an interview with Sport , in which he said that 'many players weren’t satisfied or working hard' under Valverde - seemingly suggesting it was their fault that he got the sack in January. In an extraordinary move, Messi - who is not exactly known for his outspoken demeanor - took to Instagram the next day to slam Abidal for his comments, saying: "The people in the sporting directorate should also assume their responsibility and above all take ownership of the decisions they make. Valverde's successor, Quique Setien, never managed to connect with Messi in the same way as his predecessor, in yet another factor that upset him. And finally, Messi was also unhappy with the way Barcelona dealt with the coronavirus pandemic behind the scenes, and wrote an open letter on Instagram criticising the club for not acting quicker in helping the players find a solution before they eventually took a 70% pay cut. With all these incidents added together, it is perhaps unsurprising that Messi is seriously considering leaving the club that he has spent his whole career. New boss Ronald Koeman is doing all he can to try to convince him to stay, with his contract not due to expire until the end of next season. But it would not come as a huge surprise to see Messi move on this summer. The big question then would be: where does he go next? Over to you, Pep Guardiola. |

BlueAngel444:Lol His rival is no longer Ronaldo but Neymar. If by chance Ronaldo gets to the UCL final next year his rival would become Ronaldo once again. If you were a deep thinker you would understand the implication of this and stop slighting him. |
| Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by tesppidd: 1:35pm On Aug 23, 2020 |
BlueAngel444:You still don't get it... A club with Griezman and Coutinho should be scared of kicking Messi's behind. Griezman is a world cup winner; Giroud is a world cup winner, Pedro is a world cup winner too. Even Navas is a world cup winner. Coutinho is a top Brazilian attacker; Brazil has for very many top attackers. Collect the numbers that Griezman's and Coutinho's boots have delivered. Multiply by 10. Your answer is not up to what Messi's boots have delivered. And I tell you for free, Coutinho and Griezman are not among the best 15 players in the world. I repeat Not in Top Fifteen!! So Yes Barca should be very scared of kicking Messi's behind because of Griezman and Coutinho. |

BlueAngel444:How? 2015/16 2016/17 2017/18 2018/19 What happened to Neymar? The failed to make it past the QF. Now that PSG met rookies like Atalanta and Liepzig they have advanced beyond the QF. Besides most of us here would be rooting for Neymar to win this UCL. However all of my points about Messi for the past 2 weeks are clearly depicted in this PSG team. *Thiago Sylva is hardly shouting about all over the pitch in the name of motivating his team even during the time they were losing to Atlanta for 89 minutes. Everyone never relented in putting in work; From Thiago to Neymar. *Neymar has received very appreciable help from his team mates like Mbappe, De Maria and Marquinhos. For PSG would have crashed out already if they were all waiting for motivation and for Neymar alone to score the crucial QF and SF goals. Thank you for bringing this up. This PSG is the perfect case study. |
