Making it in life is not by education jare. Education is overrated in Nigeria . Buhari go school? |

I think it's more of their own premium than schools Standards. Only trying to act under the pretence of "students interest" |

Elitecool:of their own premium? A Professorship is the highest level you reach in a University, a typical Nigerian Professor does not collect #450k a month. The last time lecturers' salaries was reviewed was in 2009: how many times has House Members salaries being reviewed? ASUU is asking for conducive lecture halls, well equipped laboratories, good hostels for student, etc and insisting that all these should be provided without excluding our parents in the villages who couldn't afford the exorbitant fee of private schools. Upon all the above and more you still claim that ASUU is only after personal interest? |

paulolee:Nigeria has more universities, with poor funding. |

It is really surprising that ASUU, an academic body has degenerated so low and its activities are now baseless and even more destructive to the Nigerian Education System. How has ASUU ensured that universities properly manage the billions they have received in the past? Why have those monies not built hostels comfortable for students? Is it rocket science or do you need trillions of naira to build libraries conducive for students? Every time it is one payment or the other and then they mask that request with a supposed claim for students' welfare. Shame on ASUU. Shame on NANS, they have refused to even mediate and stand for the students. I believe the only solution to the nigerian tertiary education problem is for government to go into a public-private partnership to privatise these universities and save the Nigerian education system from it's current rot. This is a downward spiral if nothing happens urgently. |

ASUU is a disgrace to the intellectual world. If only the body can prove to be responsible to graduate final year students, what honour, respect and dignity it would have brought itself. This deceitful ploy on the victims of its ruthlessness with labour strike power will not only bring them curses and disgrace but generational devastations.Nb. |

paulolee:did I say the government cares about education? Of course don't. But the lecturers are only pursuing their stomach. I know this for a fact. |

This ASUU pple shud just stop lieing to themselves.... Aren't they bird of the same feathers like the FG. Even if FG provide those fund, they will still embezzle them. You pple shud jst stop affecting our youth career with ur useless strike, you are fighting for ur self interest and not for the student. If am opportune to be on buhari shoe nw, I will sack all this proclaim ASUU members and appoint fresh young vibrant hardworking youth. This pple are old and as nothing to lose nor offer other than there professorship wisdom of crime. |

University that you are supposed to spend 4years, ASUU will make it 6years.. you graduate at 27 and apply for a job but they will tell you minimum of 26. How are u fighting for the interest of student? |

sinkhole:Yes I really meant "of their own premium" I never uttered a word about their salaries but their annoying, toothless decry - where're you when 2013 hoot was met with no implementation but fake promises from the govt. I was in school then. A morale-killing 6month- strike, to many students like me was more than frustrating. The words I chose that triggered your reply was as a result of my experience in the university. The year I entered university was the year the school council committee rolled out the idea of development levy of 30k, which each fresher must pay, since then, it's been maintained. The said fee was mentioned to be meant for the school development but one can hardly see any development. If truly ASUU means good for students and stands for the best interest of students they would have devised another method to make their clamours heard instead of making things turn from bad to worst. See, the fights look unwinnable for ASUU on behalf of the students public. After all, the so called ASUU members make their ways to abroad to study. That's hypocrisy. |

jericco1:Ignorance. ASUU struggles gave birth to ETF now called TETFUND in the early 90's. So any school you see TETFUND or ETF intervention project in any university, polytechnic, college of education or monothecnics. Just know you are seeing ASUU product through strike action. Many state University today's only have TETFUND as their major infrastructure funder. |
