None of the identified instigators and perpetrators was punished beyond spending a few years in prison. Victims felt cheated and since then, there have been tit for tat violence between Hausa (not Fulani) and Atyap in Kaduna. The next major incidence was after the 2011 election. After the result was announced, aggrieved people went to politicians houses in Kaduna, allowed them to pack their properties and burned their houses. No life was lost! However, when news got to Southern Kaduna, they started an orgy of violence that led to lots of killings. That incidence led to massive dislocation of people apart from loss of lives. After killing and burning houses, they went back and DEMOLISHED houses belonging to Hausas because the goal is to ensure those they didn't kill don't come back. Well, the targets were Hausa but Fulani were affected. That was the direct cause of present violence we are experiencing in Southern Kaduna.

We must remember one thing about Fulani. Fulani that move about do not respect law and order. They believe is self help. So even though the Hausas that were the main target then have gone on with their lives even though they identified people who killed their families and burned their houses without govt doing anything. Fulani have exerted revenge, which led to counter revenge, which led to counter revenge and so on. When Fulani are killed or their cattle rustled or poisoned, Fulani never call a press conference nor report to anybody. they count score and try to even the score. So why are the Fulani the demons here?
Another aspect of this crisis is the fact that criminal Fulanis are cause tension when they destroy farmers farms and investments. There are demons on both sides as well as victims on both sides. When we accept that, we can then move ahead
