My name is Temitope. I bought a used CRV 2003 recently. My speed gauge suddenly stopped working, while still trying to source for remedy, the car suddenly stopped working while idling and couldn't start again. It was suggested the PCM is bad and I have to buy another brain box(used).
Everything started working fine again but later same day the D light started flashing while driving and gear change became erratic. The brainbox was suspected to be faulty so it was replaced since it was still under warranty but unfortunately no difference.
Scanning the car, the only code it displays is P0795 pressure control solenoid C. The gearbox wiring and switched has been checked and certified working ok.
The electricians concluded I have to change my gear box!. Please I need some guardian here. I don't want to buy another gearbox to discover it's not the problem. I have been in and out of the mechanic workshop for almost a month on this issue. I searched online and I have to go buy the switch shown but still same issue. Please good help will be highly appreciated. I'm currently in kano with the car

Hi, are you saying you have changed the solenoid to no avail?

Quick questions:

1. Did you scan the car when the vehicle stopped working and couldn't start?

2. Have you replaced the pressure control solenoid?

Alright, so I had a similar problem after some electrician fried my ECU. A new ECU was bought and my transmission did NOT like it; it threw a PO755 code (solenoid B)..and slammed into gear and refused to go into overdrive at times- making it almost undrivable!!. I was advised to change my transmission and like you, I was rather suspicious! So I did quite alot of research and......

As it turned out the mech had bought an ECU that was correct to the model but was for an entirely different engine. I ordered a new ECU myself (correct to the number), had my key coded to it and voala, Transmission problem gone! I have since travelled numerous times and the code- nor it's problems have returned.

My advice good friend? We might have the same problem here but better still; hit the net with your problem, especially Honda CR-V forums!

Exactly what happened to me too. How I wish I got this your contribution earlier. I did a lot of research too and that was why I asked here on Nairaland. I went to price a new gearbox but after some interaction with the seller, he told me about the difference between the American model and Japanese Model. He told me to first confirm that the correct ECU was used and after checking the number just as you recommended, vooom it was not same. I ordered for another ECU with same number and I have driven it for over 2 hours and the transmission problem dissappeared. I am now very happy and could put my baby back on long journey anywhere.
Thanks for this piece. it solved my problem exactly. My car is now behaving excellently well!

You are very correct. Most times our technicians are archaic and need to update thier knowledge in this ever advancing world. To save myself some fortune I had to buy my own scanner. Enough of guess works. Internet is bae

Post the VIN of your car. Post the part number on the original ECU you removed from your vehicle. Post the part number of the ECU you have there. My bet is you have the wrong ECU in your car.
