Civil service requires FSLC and WAEC for grade level 1-4, you write Nabteb to upgrade to level 6, then when you gain admission into the state uni your grade will climb to 8.

I have ND but they don't want it.

Currently i am in level 6 and i want to sit for jamb nxt yr.

If only he could listen eh....why would he even wanna be a banker with this high rate of sack anyways?

TimoWerner, the thing is getting a job in Nigeria is super hard unless you plan to leave the country. Your Family is right, They are trying to make you succeed in a career that you are already part of. DO NOT COMPARE PASSION FOR REAL WORLD ISSUES. I studied economics, I even got MSc sef, Trust me d course ain't as awesome as it sounds. When I got a chance to work at NDIC, a senators boy with 3rd class got the job and rendered all my cert useless. grin
Thank you bro. At least he has found himself in a legal setting. He should strive to be a part of them. And he's in his early 20s. Why the hurry?

Verdict:Sorry bro no way out here, it's either you study law or you study law..

Here is what some people did in my time, you will study their law till 400l then take jamb for your Economic and statistics, if you get lucky you will be in finals in law and 100 in the other course.. Once you Done with your law, take the result to your dad and a photocopy to your aunt. Walk away and continue the course you got passion for.

Let's make #SOS trend

Let's make SOS trend

We cant breathe in southern Kaduna.

#NYM

Sounds risky...plus if someone had told me at 400l that I have to write Jamb again....I probably would have looked at that person funny

Thank God for ur life. You ve started a purposeful career life very early. Boy, you will go very far in life. Just hold to God and be focused. I think ur people want U to consolidate on de advantage U have already as someone that is in de system. If you read law you can even go as far as becoming registrar-general of de supreme court if U dnt want to argue cases or judge cases. Dont lose this advantage U have in the judiciary. Age favours U. Since U like civil service, consolidate on de advantage U have. Ur people are just being logical and realistic. I have a friend who was working as a court-clerk after high school. He left it to go back to Uni full time for his passion. Since after graduation, he has not been able to find his feet or get a reasonable job. He is full of regrets today.

Many years ago, my famy members summoned me to an important meeting and warned me not to read or study law.
Our brilliant family lawyer was stabbed to death by his son.

If so, I don't see much reason why this should be an issue.

Sponsoring yourself while taking my previous advice will even be much easier.

I see no problem here..
Study Law,graduate and fail at the career so your family will realize they made a mistake.
Then you can start smoking weed out of frustration, maybe join a cult too.
In other words,become very useless.
They will realize their mistake.
you're simply telling him to hurt his self.

You are a Civil Servant in a State High Court without a degree when many degree holders will be very happy to get the job you have now.
[Your parents are sure you are guaranteed a job after your Law degree] a job after completing the career path they want you to follow. Banks do need Lawyers so you can specialise in Financial law, this way you are still doing something that relates to your passion.

I love the post below from another thread.

I mean be Passionate about what you do. Exceot You're passionate about what You do, I don't think you ever would improve on it.

A person who is a teacher today just because He / She couldn't find another kinda Job may never be better Except they focus on it else they keep moving from One Job to another.

It's like Pushing a Car 2-inches, you complain it's too heavy and move on to another Car which You still leave for another Car after pushing it 3-inches. Now imagine focusing all that energy on just 1-Car, you would have pushed it 2+3+5+... inches.

So when I say Passion, it doesn't always have to be your initial Hobby. I personally can never be Good as a Musician no matter how Lucrative it might be OR how hard I try.

Some people waste Time Moving from One Job / Business to another rather than Picking Up One, Focusing on it and ...

No be by force...If you try to convince them but they insist...Dont hesitate to change it for them in a respectful way. Hold your ground bro. That's how they will force people to do what they dont want. Whatever decision you make you will bear the cross.
If I had followed my dream or passion God knows where I will be today if I had support. Nigerian parents with very strict, old and aggressive mentality. I wanted to study political science but ended up studying economics. I engaged in sporting activities Athletics, football they dulled my spirit. I purchased form for acting at PEFTI they still dulled me.i started my record label they no support me until they saw my labels music been played on dstv.
what is the name of your record label bro

So what course will you study that will make you be a banker? There is really no such course. Of course you can study economics and get a Bsc. However for your information, i studied law and worked in a bank sometime. So follow your mind but don't come across as if studying any course precludes you from being a banker..whatever that means...

Check all the bank MDs and come back with how many pf them studied banking and finance. You will still understand by and by.

You're 20s, you're matured enough to know what u want. Please don't take that move, u will regret later. Trust me u won't love to experience Depression.

One thing I want you to know is that you studying law shouldn’t be based on you family recommendation or what people think you should do. As a law graduate, back then in university we had students whose parents forced them to come study law; about 7 drop out in part 2, while about two of them was busy attending shows and music concerts without attending lectures. I also got tired of law too at some point, but it was the vision and passion I had then that actually fueled me. So please if you’ve got no passion for law, don’t go near it or else you won’t do well. Your family are actually giving this advice because you work in a court, they also want you to become a lawyer someday.
