Amazon Web Services is at it again. Africa needs to be well represented in this Virtual Hackathon.
You are invited to participate in a virtual hackathon organised by AWS.

The Mission to M|A|R|S Virtual Hackathon invites hackers to build amazing prototypes using AWS services like Amazon ML, AI and Robotics.
The competition begins August 10, 2020 and lasts for 6 months. Top teams get a chance for acceleration.
Best Overall Prize:Win entrance into the M|A|R|S Acceleration in addition to cash and AWS credits.

Grand Prize: After the M|A|R|S Accelerator the top teams will present in front of AWS executives and industry experts for a chance to compete for $20,000 in cash and $50,000 in AWS credits to bring their application to market.

Let me note that this hachathon is for 6 months period. It means you have 6 months to work with AWS infrastructure free of charge

I'm not doubting the authenticity or otherwise of your post. But lately it has come to light that a lot of hackathons are really a ruse for building actual solutions for clients of the organisers.

You have a valid point. After attending a lot of hackathons over the years I've had this feeling too.
This particular Hackathon is organised by Amazon Web Services. AngelHack is just a facilitator.
Everything you build is on AWS infrastructure and the judges are also AWS guys.
