Ogaonos:I get your drift. But then, all these premium features you hinted at costs money. How do they achieve any of those when the government is not allowing them make business decisions that can boost quality and profit? When they charge what they should, they produce what they should, everyone is happy. It is a win-win situation. Think about it. |

bolaayenimo:The fact that FG is even telling them not to sack workers is laughable. They are in the business for profit, they don't need anyone's permission to employ or sack workers. For FG to prevail on them not to sack workers, something must give in form of incentive. Dead on arrival order |

LawLab247:forget even s.a is paying high Nd Ghanaian are paying high is nt jux govt fault but DStv too.is because they is no competition.in Kenya they have cable satellite TV who gave them internet TV decoders DT give premium service DT comes with internet WiFi networks na my friend where school for Kenya gist me.if u want pay for internet only u charge base on internet speed per seconds DT was what tstv was trying to introduce to us but failed woefully.but DStv doesn't give DT services to Kenyans.so forget DT why DStv doesn't rili want competition.it will expose them like how apple expose blackberry and xaiomi is doing to Tecno .Nd Google to microsoft. u paying 18k for less .remove supersport Nd big brother DStv is empty.if it was ShopRite I for blame govt.dem dey try |

Ogaonos:I agree with you to an extent. I feel the best way out of this conundrum would be to break the monopoly they hold. It will bring about the situation in the telecom sector where we have MTN, Glo, Airtel etc trying to outdo one another. At the end of the day, the consumers win. Let's say no to monopoly. |

What has the federal government done to improve the economic situation of the country? Many businesses have laid off its staff and slashed wages as a result of the FGs harmful policies and the COVID 19 pandemic. In other countries the government paid certain percentage of employees unable to work and private sector workers wages. It is the other way round here, while companies are struggling to pay workers in this harsh economy the FG determines how it is expected to operate. |

I dont think any business is excited at the thought of reducing its staff strength or ending peoples means of livelihood but with the constant devaluation of the naira, increase in VAT amidst the economic meltdown COVID has caused, this is inevitable. Businesses are currently forced to slash salaries or initiate a work from home policy to stay afloat. Price hike is unavoidable, especially for businesses whose product or content are not purchased in naira. In some other places, where the furlough system was implemented, the government payed a certain percentage of private sector workers wages. We haven't seen our FG do any of that. They have absolutely no business in determining how a private business chooses to remain afloat, instead they should look for ways to help Nigerians that have been affected by the situation. |

Why does the FG think it has the power to tell private companies how to manage their businesses in a harsh economic situation? The economic situation they have done absolutely nothing to improve but rather continue to worsen it. Many businesses have had to lay off staff and slash salaries just to keep afloat during this pandemic and also in light of all the new harmful government policies. Did the FG give palliative to private broadcasters to lessen the impact of COVID on them? Has the FG ever provided a good operating environment or it's unaware that Nigeria is a very high-cost economic environment? |

Is this a joke? Does MultiChoice belong to the Federal Government? Nigerians act like they are unaware of what is going on with the country. It is clear that the increase was as a result of the current economic situation. What has the government done to help the economy? Many businesses are packing up as a result of harmful policies and the difficulty of doing business in this sinking hole. In sane countries, the governmemt is paying a percentage of salaries of private sector. What is our government doing?! We do not even now what all the money given to us to fight this pandemic has gone! Feed 1 million Nigerians daily, MY ASS!! Abeg, I'm tired ![]() bolaayenimo: |

The FG should allow them do their business their own way to make way for FREE market economy otherwise investors would be scared to come to the country. |

Ogaonos:That is not true,DStv was doing fine before they added those package. Infact during the time hitv got the license to show English premier League, they introduced various channels to attract more customers. Dstv have been innovative right from time and that is why they enjoy high patronage. If you think it is just supersport and big brother that generate fund for them, then you must be joking. |

edoairways:maybe u wrking with DStv Nd defending them which I will do if I wrk with them.but deep down we all knw is supersport Nd big brother DT their big engine.is a fact.if am lying why did DStv went to gain sole viewership rite on EPL.nd most part of football club Nd secure it very well .remove supersport DStv patronage will go down .pple in naija patronise Ur decoder when u showing football DT fact.dt where DStv have market edge.secondly big brother is love by most ladies DT is show exclusively on DStv Nd gotv.which other channels is DStv is using to generate revenue DT other cable like startimes, etc aren't showing or can show .by d way have u watch being TV cable beingsport, mbc or so,even sky TV cable u knw DT DStv is another Tecno.u talk about innovation d only innovation is explorer where u can pay Nd view newly release movie finish.while other cables in Kenya are doing internet decoder DT comes with internet WiFi Nd calls.dt means their decoder can be use for zoom conference call.even gotv DT was a good stuff frm mutichoice.they have made a mess of it always repeating content.except for real-time Nd discovery family dt have grt content.nd to worsen they increase the sub DT is going beyond affordable.by 2024 I wouldn't be suprise if we start paying 5k for gotv max.we all patronise DStv because there are no alternative for football esp EPL.dt fact ask any bdy here they will tell u d same thing.dstv loves monopoly Nd is scarce of real competition.when there is competition they fail if am a joke where is channel o.a music channel owed by DStv DT couldn't blow artiste.channel o couldn't stay in competition with MTV ,soundcity who blow artiste. |

Ogaonos:When most Nigerians begin to think beyond cable tv, things would fall in place. The day they stop the madness for foreign leagues, that is when things will change. Movies on Mnet , Africa magic are exclusive to dstv. These channel generate huge profit for them aside football, big brother Nigeria and EPL is just additional revenue to them. One thing I love about DStv is the introduction of products that suit the needs of subscribers |
