Three transfers Arsenal will prioritise after securing Gabrie THREE PRIORITY SIGNING FOR ARSENAL AFTER THE CAPTURE OF GABRIEL MAGALHAES Arsenal have just confirmed the signing of Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille but Mikel Arteta has his sights on more as the Gunners ramp up their efforts in the transfer market By Callum Vurley Sport Reporter 17:26, 1 SEP 2020 Mikel Arteta is not hanging back after the first signing of Arsenal's summer in the form of Gabriel Magalhaes. The defender has joined from Lille for a fee of around £27m and will strengthen the Gunners defence. The Brazilian was a priority for Arteta but while this deal took a while to get over the line, the next should be much quicker. That is because Arsenal technical director is moving forward with plans to bring in more players. One should be fairly recognisable at the Emirates with Dani Ceballos primed for another loan from Real Madrid. A deal has already been agreed and it just a matter of time before the Spaniard rejoins the Gunners for another season. The transfer will please Arteta, who outlined his plans for the midfielder last week. "Well, we have some talks and Dani knows really well what I think about him," he said. "He was pretty clear with me as well that his intention was to remain with us but obviously Real Madrid is involved and I don’t know yet what they want to do with the player. But he’s a player that we are interested in because we really saw, in the last few months of the season, what he is capable of bringing to us." The next player in Arsenal's sights is Lyon hotshot Houssem Aouar, who has drawn many plaudits. The Frenchman wants a move to the Premier League and the Gunners are keen on becoming his destination. However, Lyon would not let the midfielder go cheap and Arteta may have to sell players in order to make a transfer. Another midfielder Arsenal are looking to sign is Thomas Partey, who has been at the centre of a transfer plot all summer. The north London outfit have not given up on the Ghana international but Atletico Madrid have demanded that his full release clause be paid. That stands at £45m, meaning Arsenal will have to sell players - much like the case with Aouar. |

Gabriel Magalhães: “[Edu and I] had several chats about Arsenal and the new project, we had many good conversations,. As the days went by I was getting very excited about it, then I had a call from the coach and that was very reassuring." https:///yQrxmgWZS7 |

ARSENAL REPORTEDLY INTERESTED IN SIGNING CELTIC STRIKER EDOUARD Arsenal are rumoured to be interested in signing Odsonne Edouard from Celtic this summer and would be willing to spend just north of £22 million to bring him to North London, according to Ian McGarry of The Transfer Window Podcast in a conversation with Duncan Castles of the Daily Record. Edouard did not feature in Celtic’s Champions League defeat to Hungarian side Ferencvaros last week which saw them crash out of Europe’s elite competition in the second qualifying round. He also didn’t play in their Scotish Premiership game against Motherwell last weekend. Neil Lennon did not mention the French striker’s name when asked which players had asked to leave the club in the current transfer window. It looks like Celtic will try to cash in on him this summer, according to Duncan Castles of the Daily Record. The Scottish side are out of the Champions League and so have a big revenue blackhole on top of the financial turmoil brought on by the pandemic. A number of clubs in the Premier League are interested in signing the player. West Ham and Aston Villa are believed to be keen on Edouard but have reportedly been told that if he were to move, he would be headed to one of England’s top clubs. Alexander Lacazette’s future at Arsenal looks uncertain. He has two years remaining on his current deal and there has been no indication that he will be signing a new contract. Atletico Madrid are believed to be interested in making a move for the 29 year old. If he were to depart, the Gunners would want to sign a striker to replace him. It looks like the 22 year old is among their list of targets should they need to bring in a centre forward in the current transfer window. The French striker signed for Celtic on loan from Paris Saint Germain in August 2017. The Scottish side had the option to make the move permanent for £8 million which they exercised. Since signing for the club, Edouard has scored 64 goals and provided 32 assists in 130 appearances. Last season, he scored 27 goals and provided 19 assists in 45 appearances. It is unclear what price Celtic would be willing to sell the player for if they were indeed interested in selling him this summer. |

Does Gab's signing mean we will go back to a back 4? I am thinking Arteta favors the 3-4-3 because of our fragile midfield. |

Arteta on Gabriel: “We welcome Gabriel to Arsenal. He has many qualities which will make us stronger as a defensive unit and as a team. He has proved with Lille that he is a defender with many outstanding attributes & we are looking forward to watching him grow as an #AFC player” |

Roland17:I think if Partey joins, then we would switch back to the 4 3 3 formation thus giving more room for the Left backs to operate upfront supporting the attack line |

Roland17:That mean Tierney will play his preferred position which may be one of the reasons AMN will go. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 6:46am On Sep 02, 2020 |
Roland17:I think he is forced to play 3-4-3 due to the lack of an AM in the team. With a proper AM he will switch to a 4-3-3 which I believe will make us more lethal and also give him a lot of tactical tweaks. Meanwhile, if Ceballos signs we may as well forget about Partey. Though I feel we could get some other decent DM for good fee. Partey is becoming a distraction. |

iamoyindamola:People don't get that AMN is just a tactical manoeuvre by Arteta. AMN neither plays FB or WB, he actually plays in midfield he only switches positions when we are defending and building from the back. He even pushes up to winger position to allow Aubameyang go central. Such is the tactical genius in Arteta- to give players unique roles that confuses the opposition. That's why AMN is winning MOTM awards, he is tactically flexible and astute. We will lose a real talent if he leaves, and I believe the Arsenal board have realised this and ended speculations about him leaving. |

Kbs468:We will need an AM. I don't think Ceballos can handle that role as well as he handles the CM. Unless Ceballos will be our Thiago Alcantara that will start and finish attack moves while the other DM (Xhaka) will switch to make shift LB, LB (Tierney) to winger, winger (Auba) to CF. |

iamoyindamola:He played CM. Partey can compete with Xhaka, but I think he is too expensive at 27. There are other options. By the way, you may be surprised that Xhaka may bench him in Artetaball. |

| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 8:35am On Sep 02, 2020 |
iamoyindamola:You need to follow Xhaka's recent performances under Arteta. I am not saying he is better, but Xhaka has the capacity to improve to a point he can be better than Partey. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by kodded(m): 9:55am On Sep 02, 2020 |
Spy360:the only reason xhaka is 'so good' is because of the extra CB in the defence, remove that extra man and watch xhaka getting exposed Xhaka is not a DM and he never was, when wenger and emery used him in that role, we all saw how open our midfield was. That is the main reason arteta is going all out for partey, with partey we can switch from 3-4-3 to a more advanced 4-3-3. Signing a world class DM like partey for £45million is an opportunity we shouldn't miss if we are to continue our rebuilding process because signing a young prospect DM might either take us forward or backward, we tried it with torriera and it failed so we should go all out to get partey or else it will be bye bye top 4 for another 3 years |

| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 12:29pm On Sep 02, 2020 |
kodded:You are right that Xhaka isn't a DM, I have been saying that here. Xhaka has good passing ability and passing range which some managers like Arteta, Emery value more than tackling. If he does that more than Partey, he will surely be preferred over him. The exception to this is if Partey can provide both passing and tackling. |
