This thread is Life as a Canadian immigrant, but the discussion here is not related to the thread's topic. we ought to share our experiences living in Canada, The advantages and shortcomings of living in Canada. I was expecting to see pictures and Journal of immigrants here not people asking for questions that should be in other Canada visa thread.. y'all should make this place interesting for Canada Aspirants not for the question and answer session. **Shakes my head** 8 Likes 1 Share |

Why dont you start to advertise it for sale early, since you have a long time in Nigeria and you don't have to do a forced sale. Did you just think of carrying your car from Nigeria to Canada? It depends on what you mean by good value? Your expectations might not match buyers expectation because " you know naija now" . Luckymama: 4 Likes |

egbaran: Questions about Canada are best asked here so other people can chip in and learn from the answers too. This way you get a diverse and rich answer rather than limit yourself to my fallible knowledge. Please which group are you referring to? 7 Likes |

But honestly, we need to hear your experiences and best practices in Canada. Work, life, marriage, relationship, raising children, entrepreneurship, business etc. Pictures of beautiful scenery and good roads lol. This is actually the essence of this thread. But I guess people get busy with their daily lives and that's okay. But whenever you remember this thread or you stop by, just bless us with amazing experiences 5 Likes |

My yard after the hail storm that ravaged NE Calgary in June. Fortunately I had no damage except some almost invisible dents on my car. $Billions were lost in the storm and it was declared a disaster by the province. Calgary is in a hail corridor and apparently these storms occur regularly. The last one was 4 years ago. Normally, when a hail storm is coming special planes go up to 'seed' the clouds. This will negate the hail formation especially by making the hail smaller. However, once in a while, a surprise storm arrives from another direction while they're busy fighting the forecast storm. Pic 2: this was the size of the hail at my side, hence the minimal damage (ping ball size). Others got golf ball and tennis ball sizes. Pic 3: this was someone's yard, after the hail visited SE Calgary a couple of weeks later. Ayam coming, lemme go and look for pictures of the flash floods that accompanied the storm. 20 Likes

Pic 1: You're in your car, waiting for the traffic light to turn green. Suddenly everywhere around you is flooded! It's called a flash flood. People climbed into the roofs of their cars and chilled there for the fire/emergency service to rescue them. Pic 2: A yard in the NE. You can see that the SE storm was child's play in comparison. Pic 3: The damage to this car is relatively minor. For weeks, people were driving their cars without glass. Some cellotaped cellophane to replace the glass, etc. Especially those that only lost back glass. Insurance companies were inundated and couldn't keep up with claims fast enough. Luckily the weather was quite okay at the time, so easy enough to drive an uninsulated car. Pic 4: example of a damaged house. This person is lucky, no glass was shattered. Imagine all the houses on a street looking like this... People used duct tape to patch their houses while waiting for insurance to respond. Insurance companies prioritized houses that were no longer liveable, over those with cosmetic damage like this one. Roofs were also destroyed in the storm 12 Likes 2 Shares

A hail corridor that gets to -40° in winter, yet hits 40° in summer. Very harsh land, I definitely applaud the original inhabitants of this place, the who lived here centuries ago without the perks of modern technology. Yet for all that nature deals, it gives back in sheer beauty. Pic 1: Lake Minnewanka Pic 2: Enroute Banff from Calgary Alberta remains one of the most beautiful places on earth, with so many points to touch base with unrefined nature. And Calgary is still a great place to make a living, and a great place to make a life. We just need to get used to our new found oil poverty and we'll be alright! 20 Likes 2 Shares

I still ask myself how the original inhabitants coped. Also folks that live in the shelters for one reason or the other and have to move outside during the day... I'm sure there will be official records of the number of deaths from cold during winter..... It's officially still summer yet the cold at night these days no be here o! 19CannyMum: 3 Likes |

seakomol: Which cold? Is it the 9° at night you're calling cold? Open your window and enter under blanket my friend Anyway there's a funny theory that the original settlers came during summer, were so happy with the weather and beauty so they stayed. By the time winter came it was too late for them to run away 7 Likes 1 Share |

My dear, pls stop sounding entitled.. How many times have you posted something to entertain others? How many times have you brought up a topic to debate and share knowledge about? I'm very grateful to everyone that even answer the questions asked cos nothing we go do if the thread is filled with unanswered questions.. U're even seeing Q&A and u're complaining.. Meanwhile, how come you've been on the matter since 2018 & u never go reach Canada so you'll be entertaining us? Be calming down & rest a little JoshOxborn: 17 Likes |

JoshOxborn: I’m not sure I really understand what the problem is- are we not supposed to answer questions we are in the capacity of answering when someone is in dire need of information? Should we start neglecting people’s questions now because you want to see something different. I’m not on this thread often but i know I usually see pictures here. It is well oo |

19CannyMum: There are threads for seeking Travel information and knowledge for different types of country including Canada. This is for immigrants to write Journals about their stay in Canada and some insight information about Canada, The fundamental objective, ideal and purpose of this thread has been curbed, thwarted and deterred. I can't recall and think to back to the last time pictures and adventures was shared on this thread. I'm not a hater or someone that loathes or despises the improvement of this thread but y'all should not make this place a section of Q&A only. if we don't have money to travel now, we should at least see life in Canada through you people's eyes. 2 Likes |

JoshOxborn: Now I know you're outrightly trolling. This thread was never meant to be a journal or a place for pictures. It was created to share information. The thread is only useful if you intend to move to Canada. It's not for catching thrills or inspiration. The very first post of the thread gives its purpose. (And this is my last response to you because you're trolling): This thread is about Life in Canada for immigrants or Permanent Residents. 3 Likes |
