Arsenal identify Celtic frontman Odsonne Edouard as top target as Mikel Arteta scours market for new striker

Arsenal are reportedly ‘hugely interested’ in signing Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard this summer as Mikel Arteta steps up his hunt for a new attacker.

The Gunners have already wrapped up deals for Willian from Chelsea and Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille in the transfer window so far but Arteta wants to add a new striker as speculation mounts over Alexandre Lacazette’s future in north London.


Odsonne Edouard is highly-rated and seems destined for a move to the Premier League in the future

The 29-year-old has become a bit-part player at the Emirates due to the superb form of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and it appears he could be on his way out.

The Frenchman has two years left on his deal and has attracted interest from clubs in Spain and Italy.

And according to the Daily Record, Edouard is top of Arsenal’s wishlist should Lacazette leave the club.


Edouard has emerged as the most prolific player in Scotland in recent seasons and he scooped the Golden Boot last term after netting 22 goals in 28 Scottish Premiership appearances.

However, Hoops boss Neil Lennon is adamant he will not be selling Edouard this summer.

“We can’t help the attention on him, it’s inevitable,” he said last month.

“But we’ll try to stave off any admirers. I’m sure there are plenty out there, but we love having him here and I’m sure he’s enjoying it.”
