A competitive match is a match played during a competition/tournament. E.g. during the World Cup, World Cup Qualifiers, COPA America and qualifiers, etc. for South America.

Maybe you can tell us the competion/tournament in which that particular match was played.

Note: I am not interested in Messi - Ronaldo comparison. Just felt to let you know that Messi is yet to score a competitive goal against Brazil. I hope he does in the near future. If you still don't get it after this, then I won't respond to you any further. I wish you all the best.

if you counted 2 Goals for Ronaldo against Sweden in the Nations league then by all means count Messi's goal against Brazil in the Annual Super Copa. It is a competitive fixture.

On 23 March, 2017 Messi scored against Chile in a World Cup 2018 qualifier.

Chile was ranked 4th place on the FIFA rankings released on 9th March 2017.

Just one check only and am done.
