JOHESU, the Joint Health Workers Union of Nigeria, have embarked on a nationwide strike from today.

JOHESU (the trade union of nurses and midwives, medical lab scientists and other health workers who help doctors in Nigerian public hospitals) asked its members to withdraw their services in all public hospitals, labs and clinics across the country).

The Nigerian health workers reached this decision after the National Executive Council of JOHESU had a meeting during the weekend.

In a statement they released, the health workers said JOHESU had given the Nigerian federal government one week to address all their issues. But the government did nothing.

Recently, residents doctors in the country called off their nationwide strike over pay even as the country is still battling the coronavirus challenge.
