It's good that Arteta is a good coach and also tactically good, but like any successful coach, he needs to be ruthless. Thank goodness he did that with guen. I know someone like Wenger will never do Arteta did to guen.

Talking about ruthlessness, I am glad Arteta is because it's a quality a good manager needs to have. Interestingly, modern managers lacks it due to pressure from the board and club owners. But let me tell you, in the late 90s and early 2000s as I can recall, managers then we're very ruthless. Do you know how many careers Wenger and Fergie ended because those players were stubborn. Go and check about Boa Morte and Dwight Yorke and both coaches role in ending their careers. Also it was Wenger that finished Vieira.

The thing is Wenger is sympathetic towards younger players due to he understands their age issues. But none I can remember of Wenger's proteges were stubborn towards him except Vieira. RVP was sold to raise money but he never criticised W. publicly.

By the way, since Arteta we have been playing without a DM. It's always been a double pivot hence why it seems Xhaka has improved. There is no improvement, it's just him playing his natural role just as he does for his country. That's what Arteta has done. Placing players in their natural role where they feel comfortable.
