Fuel is expensive in those countries because they don't have crude oil and therefore no obligation to make fuel cheap. But the price of other commodity is cheap in relative to their minimum wage. While N150 will buy 1cup o rice here, N150 will buy 2 cups of rice in those countries. |

None is a major producing oil nation. why not compare Nigeria to Qatar or Kuwait Shallowpenguin:population should be an advantage meaning you don't really need a big buyer because you are sufficient to use majority of the crude oil produce and can also control the price globally. California just a state has 6 referineries even before oil was discovered in the USA imagine China with our kind of resources. Do you know the amount in dollar of gas we flare away. We are meant to refine and supply crude oil( Gas inclusive) to most of the country in West Africa and Central Africa through pipeline hence we should be a major influencer in the oil market. |

balosunky:Qatar and Kuwait have very low populations, compared to Nigeria. It's like comparing a household where the income is 2 million monthly and the number of children is two, with one where the income is 1 million, and there are ten children, and four relatives So, Qatar and Kuwait can afford to keep oil prices low. (at 132 naira) and pay higher minimum wage. Chad, Cameroon, Niger and Benin also produce some crude oil |
