An African ‘Magawa’ giant pouched rat, has won a Gold Medal from the British veterinary charity People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA) for its work in sniffing landmines in Cambodia.

Cambodia over decades of war and conflicts left the country with unexploded landmines and other explosives that still have the capability to kill or injure people in the country.

Cambodia in its effort to clear the landmines and other unexploded explosives contracted the services of the Magawa.

Magawa is an African giant Rat trained in the skills of sniffing landmines and explosives.

Lol... Nigeria in particular has a lot of rats that can perform similar feats if not more. The household rats in Naija will not just win gold medals but would have gone on to set records in Cambodia. Even with rat gums, Naija rats will mount on it and use it for skating.
