So the yorubas mentality of borrowing for ọwambe to make it glamorous has entered to state management.
Who would have believed that there will be statistics where Ebonyi of all states will be richer than Lagos and even be the 8th richest by "money at hand".
Never underestimate a simple man and a simple state like Ebonyi that accepts her capability and tells the world her level not those wey dey do pass their selves.
Ebonyi is just like that your average Igbo man that wears bathroom slippers in his two by two shop and lives in a simple apartment but is building mansions at his village.
For the good and silent mighty people of Ebonyi, I doff my hat
Lol

Did you check to see that Lagos state government debt, outweighs its total income including it's high IGR?

When you talk of American debt, and other western world you people always forget to mention that the income and revenue in America is more than their debt. ie they can afford their high debt profile.

Lagos state cannot afford it's high debt. They are broke. AMCON and DMO debt management office will take over Lagos and the other 13 broke states and put them on receivership and they will impose austerity measures like EU did to the Greek and Italian governments because of their debt.
Ogun and Lagos states will become richer without Nigeria.Lagos is not the 5th economy in Africa for nothing. The sucking tongue of the FG will be off the port etc.Lagos could become the first economy in Africa.
Most bouyant economies are always indebted because lenders are wont to lend them money because they can easily pay.
Lagos state makes a revenue of more than 40 billion in a month and will easily payvits debt if they want to but most viable entities like Lagos and the USA know why they do not quickly pay off their debts.Nobody will lend money to Anambra and the other poor states because they are poor,in fact dead without Nigeria.

I'm still wondering how Lagos and Ogun states will become richer without Nigeria.

Is that even possible?
If to say Nigeria broke up along the three major ethnic groups or even four if south south is to be by themselves, how will it happen?

The economical advantages the two states enjoy because of being attached to Nigeria will be lost.

In short this population you see everyday in those states will be reduced by half in first few years of separation.
The economic prosperity, Lagos enjoys being the unofficial business capital of Nigeria will be lost and without Lagos, Ogun will cease to be viable.

So if you dey boast of Lagos and Ogun, abeg no boast carry alpha dash them without Nigeria

USA is the most indebted state in the world but has the highest internally generated revenue which means they can pay off their debt within the shortest time if they so wish.

Lagos is the richest state in Nigeria and the 5th economy in Africa. Both Lagos and Ogun state can stand gidigba as sovereign entities.

Anambra and all the other states especially in the South East are dead without the federal govt feeding bottle.
Anambra is just making you guys go crazyy!! why the sentiment? Anambra can strike as a country than any state in Nigeria, Even Abuja once the federal government feeding bottle as you call it, stop!

Lagos is like a pilot who earns N2millon per month compared to a civil servant with N80,000 per month.

But if the pilot owes so much that his monthly fixed expenses to service his loan is at N2.5million. That pilot will not be able to feed his kids or send them to school despite his high income.
But the civil servant with just N80,000 per month with no debt will live a better life.

High income is nothing if you are crippled with excessive debt that outweigh that income!
No, the pilot will still be able to send his kids to school and live in a big house. His living standard would be higher than that of the civil servant. All because he is a big boy who can borrow and borrow and borrow just to keep up with the Joneses. At the end of the day, the civil servant would be happier.

It's only hard for you to understand because of your erhnic biases. For us it's very obvious and easy to see that when your expenditures outweighs your income you are broke !
That where Lagos is. The state makes N516billion and owes N555 billions. That's a red balance sheet.

Have you forgotten that we practiced regionalism and Yorubaland especially the capital,Ibadan became the most developed, richest and most progressive place that Western region, the Yorubas had to lend money to Nigeria because you all made it bankrupt.
If there is no Nigeria,Yorubaland would have been like Dubai or even better. We have done it before is a genuine testimonial not we will do it.

If you are wondering why your state governor is not performing, not commissioning projects, not building basic infrastructure, no healthcare facilities, no roads, water etc.

The National Bureau of statistics in Nigeria has provided the Answer,
Your state has excessive debt and recurrent expenditures that when subtracted from total revenue, the state has little or nothing left for capital expenditures.

i.e your state is broke!
Chaii even Lagos yet some zombies are vigorously campaigning for tinibu to become the next Nigerian president. undecided

What is the East going to be doing differently if Nigeria breaks?
During regionalism, the east was backward, today, they are the most poverty stricken in the south and has the least internally generated revenues and all their states cling onto the FG feeding bottle.
Now that it seems that the North is becoming more unreliable and deadly with its numerous ills and not wanting capable people to govern Nigeria,it is a matter of time before kaboom.
What will the east do differently with its landlocked nature. Plan,plan,plan...
One who fails to plan, plans to fail.

Almighty Eko is broke. Because of excessive debt. The only serving grace for Lagos is that its state IGR is so large they can use it to do a few projects. Before paying their debtors in the state. But other loans from Federal government is deducted at source hence crippling the state.
That's means Lagos is so poor as fnck

When your expenditures is more than your earnings you are financially insolvent. That's where Lagos state government is at the moment, AMCON and debt management office DMO will soon take over Lagos, and put it on receivership.
