Hello , I have I better pass neighbor generator I change my pistil and ring every two weeks because if I don't , it will not carry my sony LCD TV my question is
1 . what cause pistil ring to go bad in a short time
2. What is the advantage of lapping pistil ring ( I mean the extended ring before putting the main ring.
3.what can I do to make my pistil ring last longer.

Pls I need your help urgently

The following may be the cause..
1. The Oil is a bad one... use standard oil and good mixture.

2. Ask your repairer to check the engine block...it may have wounds which damages your rings so quick.

Suddenly, I noticed the tank has been getting rusty from the inside and after few weeks, d the generator will go off of I move the choke from the starting point. I called a technician to look into it. He cleaned the tank to the best of his ability and did some light servicing. Ever since then my generator has been consuming fuel. It's now 1 litre to 1 hour or few minutes less. The technician advised I should change carburetor which I did but still no improvement. What could be wrong because I hate repairing stuff. All input will be highly appreciated

Since you changed the carburetor, it ought to have stopped consuming such fuel..

Check the following to reduce fuel consumption..
1. Check the voltage of the engine... if high, it will consume much fuel...reduce it.

2. ask your repairer to tighten the carburetor, it may be open .

3. Check your oil, use good oil like total... it helps.
4. the inputs ...if much will make the engine run faster hence much fuel.

Yes...though valve may cause the starter to be bit harder to pull but it must pull...
The remedy should be grounding of the valve which is usually 300 naira and then setting it...Not all repairers know how to set the valve...

An engine knocking doesn't always mean the engine block breaking and oil pouring out as we use to imagine... it may be attributed to the crankstaft breaking inside without out hiting the engine block ..
But since there is oil as you claimed...then ground your valve

To avoid further rusting of the tank...don't leave the tank dry without fuel for a long time...when leaving town or not in use..put up to half tank of fuel ..

Mind you...once an inside of a fuel tank is rusted...definitely.. you will always be buying carburetor unless it is properly wash with chemical .. if the rust is too bad...I will advise you buy a new tank

I used to buy it 15k before Convid-19 era...but it is now 18500...will check the receipt to know the brand I bought... but mind you except Firman. All half engines are the same...China products..

You can even use the regular half engine for the key starter.. instead of buying the expensive key starter...

Tell your repairer to covert using some items from the old engine..

I really appreciate your response. Tho the gen is still working fine but have ring it just once. I’m just planning ahead for half engine cos my engineer told me #25,000.

My gen is up and running.

Called my mechanic and he told me to open loose the rope drawer side and turn the revolver or something with hand..

I called a nearby mechanic..told him what to do.. but dude wanted to form activity..loosed my gen, opened my plug side, cleaned it and put it back.. before loosing the rope side and doing same exact thing i told him..

Just gave him little amount..if I had the screw drivers loose, could have done it myself..

Hope it doesnt escalate again cos it's still brand new gen.

Tell your technician to ring the engine... but ask him to check the engine block first ...if damaged, no need for ringing..

if engine block is wounded then buy a new half engine..

but while ringing... insist on sumec piston and rings for durability..
