When do babies start sleeping at night? Since I gave birth early this month I have not really slept well at night

Same issue I'm experiencing here. Pls sleep as much as you can whenever baby is sleeping.

During the day, whenever I notice that he has slept, I join him.

If hubby stays with you, he can help pacify the baby few times at night so as to relieve the stress of staying awake all through.

It is well with you mama.

Mommas abeg make una come to my aid. How do I breastfeed with flat nipples? Put to bed 3 days ago and I am yet to establish proper breastfeeding and latch. My brezz are so engorged that I don't know if that is the cause of my high temperature. I am waiting for suggestions... Thank you

Hi dear,

Engorged breasts can be very painful and also cause you to feel feverish. Before you express or put baby to breast, dip a towel in hot water and wrap around the breast for about 3-5mins.

It will help the breast milk flow easier.

Have you been able to establish proper breastfeeding. Like @Limahgirl advised, get a good breastpump. I use avent. I understand Medela products are exceptionally good for new mothers, so you can try that.

It can be very upsetting to find out that you're not getting the kind of support you need, especially if you deem the person capable.

However, we are women and are somehow resilient. Women have been doing this and they came out strong.

Tips to manage them while taking care of your newborn are;

Now, the first thing is to know if you have a strong support system. Your mum, sister, neighbors, etc. These are people you call who can assist you from time to time. A boss once told me that what helped her a lot while she was having her kids was her support system.

Toddlers need to release the excess energy they have in their bodies. Forcing them to sit still is very unfair to them. Get footballs, basket balls, table tennis, bicycles, drums, etc. If you have a small yard, just ensure that it's safe, let the toddler go out to play. Please ensure that the area is safe, maybe inside your compound. Once it is 5pm, dd or ds should be back inside the house. Discourage too much television.

Also, don't ignore dd or ds when they come seeking attention because they become whiny and start crying at the drop of a hat. The feeling of being replaced will make them act naughty in a bid to get your attention and then you have more work on your hands.

Involve them in the chores, put baby's diapers in the dustbin, bring baby's clothes, etc. They will be so eager to please that you will even start begging them to stop. grin grin

While your dd or ds are playing, do your cooking, laundry, cleaning, etc.

For the sake of sanity and your health, if you do not feel up to doing household chores, please leave it. A lot of women have mortgaged their tomorrow with heavy debts for their kids because they have stressed themselves to the extent that they will be looking 70 at 50. Meanwhile, dh will be looking chocolatey.

Hello mum, I'm a new mother and first time mom. I delivered through CS on 10/09 and since then my breast has not been producing milk. I'm so worried mum. Though I've been taking Antibiotics since but I've stopped yesterday. Also I've been on pap since but the milk has not been coming out.
Please I need advice on what to do I'm worried

Go and buy Milk booster cookies. When you make your pap, preferably ogi baba, break 2 pieces into it, add your milk and sugar, then drink. Do this for 6 days (I think there are 12 pieces in each box) and you will see fantastic results. You can check their Instagram account- themilkbooster_.

Just make sure that you express and store because if you don't, your breast production volume will reduce back to only what baby takes.

Hubby should support you. Talk to him or get someone to come support you. The person might be coming to help during the day alone so you can rest that period. I understand your situation, i gave birth during lockdown so it was just me and my husband taking care of baby and my toddler... Not so easy but hubby was very helpful. We were able to pull through. So please stop forming superwoman from today, let your husband know you need help. No go wound yourself o

Even when I made up my mind not to let her suck from my breast, I just had to when the cry was unbearable to me.
Pls help me. How will I cope leaving her angry angry I'll be resuming work in a month's time sad sad

Like I said in my comment above, you need not be worried. Being worried alone is enough to affect your milk production. Even when no milk is coming out still put your baby to suck and ensure proper latching. You can watch youtube videos on that. Eventually it will flow. Relax. One love mama

OK MA. Thanks mom

Ndo ma, this phase can over be easy for you if you cry out
That was exactly how I felt instincts should tell mine that I needed help. until I acted up fainting, then his thoughts returned to factory setting and he started doing most chores including bathing my toddler. So pls speak up. If his not the type that take words serious then act drama shikena. If he doesn't have the time to help out due to his work he will definitely look out for support for you immediately

Kudos to mothers o we dey over try, there was a time I almost ran away lolz omo motherhood is not bread and tea. My mother didn't tell me this is how the full package is o I was busy swimming at the surface and sweetly in love while dating. Marriage is the real deal. Our babies are blessed.

The question is, "Who no like better thing?" grin grin grin grin grin

The breasts are so sweetly comforting that when alternatives are presented, they are turned away which is quite normal. But persistence will help baby to adapt.

It's just like people who have love to eat live chicken always complain when they take frozen chicken, but they still eat it.

Just continue to get baby familiar to bottle. Please ensure that you get really good bottles with teats that are almost like nipples and follow the age-type per nipple (most bottles have 1 for 0-3months, 2 for 3-6months, etc) to prevent baby from choking or from extremely slow feeding as a result of much tinier holes.

And no, introducing bottle should not stop you from putting baby to breast. Just let baby get used to the bottle, that's all.

They will take it when mama's away at work, trust me.

Hmm! Mama on chinko product, I was also a victim o. I went to the market to look for Chicco breast pump, it was after three days that I started using it that I realised it wasn't actually Chicco. This one is Cihoco and it looked like Chicco, made in China. Well, I couldn't return it since I have started using it plus say I don't have reason to because it was working well, still working well though. So here is the pics of my supposed Chico product...lol.

Lol...epele vigilante mama. Night is their daylight o. Just make sure you find time to sleep during the day. They start to differentiate between night and day at 2-3 months. My baby is three months now and she now sleeps in the night. It gets better as they grow.

Mama please you can't be doing everything alone o else, you will kill yourself. What I did that worked for me during preggy days was that I stylishly ask my dh to do things for me since his instinct did not tell him to do so. Babe please could you help with so so and so while I do so so and so. Na so he look for help for me and was paying her. If he cannot help, talk to him to get a help while he pays. My help is not a live in if wouldn't support a live in help. If this does not work, wake up one day and form sickness, when he does the work alone he will know how stressful it can be.
Please find what works for you, lots of women has been sent to early graves cos of stress from household chores and care of children. I don't form super woman for anybody,I will even be telling you that shey you know I'm lazy, I cannot do this alone.
May we live long to reap the fruits of our labours.

Izit me dat wrote this ni...lol! Mama, your story is exactly what I'm facing. My DD who has been taking feeding bottle right from birth refused it when she was two months. There is nothing I didn't do. Infact...for where, she will start screaming as if she fell, infact, she will start the crying immediately you put bib on her...lol. Well I had to stop and concluded that when I resume I will know how I will be doing it. Then I researched on it and found a piece on google where a mama wrote that her son accept the bottle while in a car seat or rocker so I tried it out and it worked. While in the rocker or car seat, I will be playing music and feed her and she will be gulping it. So it gave me rest of mind that when I resumes, she will take it. This is because they perceive odour of breast from you,so if you are the one holding her, she will prefer to suck from you than bottle. My baby will even be turning her mouth towards breast whenever I wants to feed her with bottle. I guess this is why they still take it while in a car seat or rocker since they won't perceive the odour. You can also try to make her suck the bottle from someone else and see. Hope this helps!
