I get your point but the midfield is always going to be overrun against Liverpool. They thrive on playing a high line which pushes the midfield deeper, they command possession and allow you feed on counter. The wingbacks have been poor, the defense looks uncoordinated when that pressure is deep.

Not so overrun that we look so helpless each time they try. No playmaker in that midfield.

It’s more so, what are we doing with the ball when we have possession? We are losing possession and putting the team back under pressure when Luiz is constantly trying to get behind Liverpool’s wingbacks with the first kick of the game. I mean, you can try it here and there but when it becomes the only way you are building offense then your midfield is useless.

I pity Arsenal sha. A team without defence and midfield. How can a defence of Holding and Tierney hold Mane and Salah down. It is very impossible.

Take a look at the equalizer..How about the 2nd goal? Do you see any similarities? Luiz runs out to commit a silly foul, the rest of the team is caught unawares, Luiz is already out of position, Tierney has a brain freeze despite Xhaka clearly pointing to the danger even before the quick pass to Salah was made, Mane pounces on an easy rebound.
This has always been about the Defense/ Offense for me in this argument. I am not underscoring the role of midfield but what are we doing with the ball when we have possession?

I am trying to help them see this too but no one else is. You can blame the midfield in other games and I may concur but this game I am watching? This first half to be specific? Nooo.

Arteta wants to build from the back, by passing the midfield when we have possession and when those deep passes from Luiz don’t get behind Liverpool we surrender offense and are in trouble because they press us deep and our defenders are uncoordinated.

Well, klopp has found a way to stop us from passing out from the back. That really disrupted our rhythm to even fashion out any attack. The first time we successfully did it, we scored(albeit with a bit of luck). Arteta needs to change tinz 2nd half.
Holding can't pass ball under pressure, same with Leno.

And our midfielders and wing backs, wen pressed, we easily surrender possession. That's why we need a good ball carrier in this team.

Check both Liverpool goals and you will see that the time difference between when we lost the ball because we are trying to catch them unawares and the time Liverpool recovered and got to our box is less than 20-30 seconds!

This tactic is somehow o. I Don like the freedom Arnold and Robertson are having to influence the Liverpool attack. Can't something be done to make these guys contribute minimal to attack and more to defending their goal? Auba dey pitch so?

True. They seem so intent on Tierney today. Dunno why. Seems they know if he's free to join attack, Auba comes alive too. I dont like this atall.
