Psoul:
Do you listens to yourself talk?
I'm so disappointed by this comment.
You really mean that schools don't have business with her students medical report. This is so ridiculous.

I don't think you attended any university. If you did,
may be you did not pass through the right channel during ur admission. You would've noticed that medical test is one of the compulsory process to undertake.

Well, for your information, the test is not to see weda to accept or decline you admission.
Do you know that one can take a school to court alleging that it was since his admission into a particular school that he or she suffers a particular health issue. The medical tests conducted by the school may be one good evidence to exenorate the school from such allegation.
Secondly, your medical report in the school will be very helpful to give such student medical care especially in case of emergency.

I'm so much disappointed that you condemn schools conducting medical tests on students. This is absurd.

Well, I can understand. You guys hatred towards churches can make you act out of place most times. This is disgraceful.
I think it's you that did not attend a tertiary institution. Because, if you did, you will know that you are giving your admission letter before you are required to carry out a medical test. That's why I highlighted the quote in blue. That's the correct position. I have never seen or heard a school withdraw their admission letter after a medical test, nor based admission based on medical condition. Will Covenant University withdraw admission if the tests reveal a student has HIV?

People criticise the churches because they over reach their authority. The churches in Nigeria wants to control all aspect of their members lives - Financial, Domestic, Marriage, medical, etc,. Churches have no business with members medical record.

Thanks for successfully telling us you are in America. News, America has over 200,000 deaths from Covid. They shouldn't even be reopening if they had brain. We don't have such widespread occurrence here or at least too many people are asymptomatic.
There are many problems with the reopening agenda but they aren't the ones you are citing.
If you don’t get my point, Ire o

Once again, you exhibited lack of knowledge or paucity of it as concerns how schools run or what this particular school is doing.
The school never said they will expel any student with HIV infection.
But I tell you, if actually the school is conducting pregnancy and drug test, and a student is found positive, they will expel such student. That is a welcome idea (excluding a student that is pregnant within marriage). Know it that the university is a Church owned and they want a particular standard. If you think you cannot keep to the standard, pls stay off that school.

Secondly, it seems you are reading the post upside down. The test bn conducted was not to give academic admission to the student, May be wen u heard before admitting them to school, you thought it was for the initial. The admission meant here was for the returning student, it means before they will be allowed to enter their hostels and commence learning. There are already students of the university and not new entrants.

Thirdly, you forgot that we are in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic. I was expecting someone like you to commend the school for such medical test that will give more relative safety to the students, teachers and staffers of the university. Here you are condemning the test.
If the school had ignored the test, someone like you would've carried it on ur head to criticize them saying how can a church school be so arrogant and disobedient to simple rules that will protect the life of people.

Bro, you problem is that you hate anything that has to do with Church of Christ and you will do anything to talk it down even if it makes you look very stupid.

These mission owned private universities just keep dismissing concerns of adults & treating their students like kids.
If they were really conducting Covid19 screenings, they won’t be needing urine and stool samples. The onus is on the school to explain to them categorically what the litany of tests is for, there are supposed to be laws in this country that state how you must inform individuals what you’re going to do with samples from their bodies.
This is what happens when there is no one or body speaking on behalf of students. NANS is dead in Nigeria!

As I said religious fundamentalism including Christian fundamentalism is like a mental disorder. They are unable to distinguish between reality and their make believe world.
A school registered and licensed under the Nigerian law must follow certain guidelines, Covenant university cannot operate outside those laws.

Expelling a student because she decides to get pregnant is against the constitution and is discrimination against women. Are you also going to expel a male student that got a girl pregnant? Whether a woman got pregnant married or unmarried or even through a sperm donor is non of the business of your university. It will not be included in your certificate. It can only apply to secondary schools where students are expected to be less than 18 years.

In sane countries, if a university expels a student for getting pregnant, they will be sued out of existence.

The bone of contention of this thread is what type of screening is it? If it's covid tests, that's good and even commendable, but if it's a pregnancy test, that's an invasion of privacy. The fact that you are attending a university, does not give them the rights to your privacy and dignity.

Then after the test, what next? If the student test positive for Covid, do they just send the student away or refer the student for treatment?

Thirdly, you forgot that we are in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic. I was expecting someone like you to commend the school for such medical test that will give more relative safety to the students, teachers and staffers of the university. Here you are condemning the test.

I already commended the school if indeed it's a covid test. It's just that some students were complaining that it was urine and blood samples that was taken and not a swab as expected from Covid test.

Bro, you problem is that you hate anything that has to do with Church of Christ and you will do anything to talk it down even if it makes you look very stupid.
Yes, I hate the gospel of Salvation according to tithes and offerings as promoted by bishop Oyedepo and others. It's a scam. I also hate the interference of religious leaders in personal lives of members.
