I'm a huge dog lover and so far, I have two dogs.. A 10yr old brown GSD "Major" and a 1 year old Rottweiler "Khal Drogo". I have also never seen a dog that wouldn't vibe with me except recently a chow chow that seems apprehensive of everyone.

But this thread is about my boy, Khal.

He's an indoor dog... He's just like the last born in the house.. Lol.. Yeah.. He's that integrated.

WHEN I WAS IN SCHOOL, I WAS THOUGHT NOT TO USE "HE" OR "SHE" FOR AN ANIMAL. RATHER I SHOULD USE "IT". SO WHEN YOU CALL THAT DOG OF YOURS A BOY, HOW COME YOU HAVE TWO LEGS AND IT HAS FOUR? AND YOU BOTH HAVE DIFFERENT FEATURES?

IN THIS NATION, ALL I CAN SAY IS RIP TO ENGLISH!!!!!!

I keep wondering why dogs in Nigeria are always aggressive while the same breeds of dog here only get aggressive on purpose. When I recently moved, I used to be afraid of every big dog based on my Nigerian experience (ok, I still am lol) and the owners kept telling me how socialised they were. Just yesterday, a neighbour allowed his three dogs (two dobermanns and a rottweiler) to come near me and he was shocked by the way I used my native language to seriously warn him not to try that nonsense next time!

I'd have also cried too.
NevetsIbot:
He contracted Parvo virus from a boerbull puppy... Just because we let someone else keep his sick puppy in his cage over night since Khal doesn't use the cage...

Khal got so sick he didn't eat for 2 weeks.. I had to stay out and sit with him from 7am till 7pm for a week to make sure his drip never fell out... And Khal never shook the leg that was dripped as if he knew it was of help.

He also totally loved the vet that took care of him all through... He was surprised to see a rottweiler that was so calm and confident... And more surprised to see the love we showered on him...

He was barely a year when this happened and his weight dropped from 39kg to 31kg.... We thought he would die since he was in the fatal stage.... But my boy bounced back.

It took him a months and 12drips to fully recover and gain his weight back. I would have cried like a baby if he had died.

Seems Khal is not an alpha male. Mine was an alpha, very ugly, very aggressive to outsiders and very territorial. Despite the fact that our cleaner had been visiting since he was a wee pup, he always barked up a storm that could be heard all around the neighborhood anytime she came into the compound. As long as you are not a member of his family (us), you are his enemy. As he grew bigger, he graduated to running to the gate and shaking it with pure menace when strangers knocked at the gate. Even when he was dying of poison, he still managed to mark a few areas in the compound before crawling under the vehicle and falling into a coma. He fought with death for close to 24 hours and even in a coma, it took two people to restrain him as he fought and cried in pain.

It's almost a month now but water still comes out of my eyes (like now) each time I remember Gift. He did not deserve the way he died. He loved and protected us with a single minded fierceness.

The last pic is him in a coma in the early hours of the morning. He died at almost midnight of that same day. My heart still bleeds.
Who gave it poison

Again.. I'd say that any dog can be calm and confident and only show aggression when necessary if it has the right training and right love... A perfect balance of discipline and love.... Even the popular Pittbulls.

I once read of a pitbull that was even more affectionate and protective like Khal..

I'd go on walks and see people jumping off the road at the sight of Khal who really doesn't give sh*t about em.. Sometimes I think he sees himself as an human being. I take him on regular walks because the tendency of Khal gaining weight is high within a week of not walking...... I don't want a fat dog. Lol.

And by the way... A rottweiler is not for first time owners please.

a human being. aeiou, h no dey there. weve become too comfortable with this mistake and its becoming the new normal now. for the sake of kmowledge and the future, lets correct it.

It depends on the breeder.... Over here... You can get ranging from 60k to 160k..... Pedigrees are usually more expensive
