So far... Khal has been the exact opposite of what the media and the world think about Rottweilers.

It took a lot of discipline and love from the whole family to mould him into a dog I can always vouch for with even babies..

There was a time my baby cousin who was two months old was left in the living room with a guy who Khla was just getting to like... Khal went over to the baby and stood over him while watching the new guy closely.. He'd nudge the baby back under him if he tried to craw away.... The moment the new guy stood to join me at the dining... Khal gave a loud bark...

A rare picture of a tired Khal after killing a lot of lizards and another where we were on a walk.....

I have lost his puppy pictures due to a memory loss on my phone (courtesy of my cousin - Marvel1206) undecided lipsrsealed undecided lipsrsealed.... Will be taking more pictures and probably videos soon.
Nice one,I would like to own a dog someday probably a German Shepherd.

I can see my lovely surulere in your pics,se omo Ekimogun ni e.

I'm a huge dog lover and so far, I have two dogs.. A 10yr old brown GSD "Major" and a 1 year old Rottweiler "Khal Drogo". I have also never seen a dog that wouldn't vibe with me except recently a chow chow that seems apprehensive of everyone.

But this thread is about my boy, Khal.

He's an indoor dog... He's just like the last born in the house.. Lol.. Yeah.. He's that integrated.

Nice I love this. I am a dog person as well. I have 2 huge German shepherds. When I take them out for early morning, evening and weekend walks people get surprised at how well trained they are, perfect leash control walking by my side. I trust them more than I trust humans cool

It seems our Female GSD has aggression issues and very territorial. She is playful and social with us but very mean to our friends even though she has seen them couple of times .she barks a lot always full of energy ,alert and kinda restless.
And she is just 9months old .I can't take her for a walk because of how aggressives he is ,she wants to attacks any moving thing she sees.I don't know if it is normal.
She bite our other dog a mastif(very calm) we do see scars ...I don't know what to do ...
He needs to be well socialized with people and dogs

So far, I'd say you should give Fendi obedience training.. Its very necessary for a big dog.. And also, chaining him down all day can increase his aggression levels..

Spend a lot of time with Fendi and make him comfortable meeting new people..... Socialisation is very important.

Wayne4uall:

Fendi was chained because he plays too much..

I don't know why i find these two quotes funny................. grin grin cool

Again.. I'd say that any dog can be calm and confident and only show aggression when necessary if it has the right training and right love... A perfect balance of discipline and love.... Even the popular Pittbulls.

I once read of a pitbull that was even more affectionate and protective like Khal..

I'd go on walks and see people jumping off the road at the sight of Khal who really doesn't give sh*t about em.. Sometimes I think he sees himself as an human being. I take him on regular walks because the tendency of Khal gaining weight is high within a week of not walking...... I don't want a fat dog. Lol.

And by the way... A rottweiler is not for first time owners please.
.wow! with all these, I am beginning to like dogs.

Well.. There's this family I am close to.. They have Nine heavily built Rottweilers exactly like Khal... 2 Red Rotts and 7 regular ones... Any time I go there, all Nine Rotts welcome me like a member of the family... Well balanced dogs with no sign of unnecessary aggression... Love those dogs to the moon.

Since 9 Rotts are a little too much to be in the house. They all stay outside now with their own shed built for them, so the owner had to get another dog to be inside - A Chowchow

The Chowchow is almost a yr and half now and no, Harry is not my friend at all... It took Harry a long while to even let the owners daughter touch him much less me. This is a dog that has everything provided for him.....

Always scared of anyone, acts jumpy and all.. If I didn't know the family, I'd say they were abusing the dog.. Well.. I don't know.. It might be different for other Chowchows... But this one I saw.. No no no no

St. Bernard is a nice breed but I haven't seen someone with one here in Naija
There's a guy in Jos that breeds St Bernards, beesquared kennels or so. I think he is even here on nairaland with that name as moniker

This is beautiful
I have two Rott. They are 8months.
Pple will always tell me that you are making your dog to know people and that will make him not to be aggressive.
I use to tell them I don't want aggressive dogs. I want smart, intelligent and security conscious dogs.
My two dogs are very intelligent. Dey don't bark unnecessarily. When they do, check out there must be something very wrong around.
They can never pee nor poo in their cage. They will always let you know that they are pressed. They do it only on the portion of the house mapped out for peeing and pooing.
You dear not attack or shout at any member of the family in their presence.
Dey don't eat food or drink water that is not in their bowls.
They know our clothes, shoes and slippers. They pick them from outside, return them inside.
As a stranger, u dare not cross the area they believe is their security territory without a member of the house.
When you bring them outside, they remain calm, no barking or attack cos they were socialize to know their territory.

I don't know why Africans love their dogs to be aggressive.
Aggressive dog can even at a point become problem to the owner.
I have seen a dog owner inviting a hunter to come and kill his dog cos he has become uncontrollable.
That is effect of wanting your dog to be aggressive.
If every dog owner can be reasonable and responsible like you. Many get dogs out of desperation for security. I see no reason a dog should bark continously at me in its owner“s presence.
I don't understand the passion for all these aggressive foreign breeds though. Our local bingos are no longer relevant.

Wow.. Please socialise you puppy.. She needs to know that not everyone is a potential dangerous person... Bring a few of your friends who are not afraid of dogs... Hold your dog by the neck collar and gently introwyour friend to her with the other hand - Fingers to nose.

And oh.. You might need to hold a cane handy.

Hmmmn pls I had to chain my GSD Raiden for a while and he was disturbing with so much noise that I had to use cane, is dat what you termed as abuse here??

Hahahaha. Cane is very necessary if the dog needs it... We are not whites that'll avoid beating.

The beating should not be much but enough for her to know that she's done something wrong.

And only beat immediately when she's done something bad... Don't wait for after hours or so... Instant so she'll register the action with the cane... And then later you can only start saying "no"

Spectacular. I lost mine to parvo but I'm planning to get another. It seems you trained Kahl very well. How did you do it

Damn. I'm so sorry about the death of your dog.

With the help of his love for food, his will to please and a cane for when he really crosses his boundaries like maybe chewing on slippers and shoes.... Something he used to do a lot when he was much younger
