Again.. I'd say that any dog can be calm and confident and only show aggression when necessary if it has the right training and right love... A perfect balance of discipline and love.... Even the popular Pittbulls.

I once read of a pitbull that was even more affectionate and protective like Khal..

I'd go on walks and see people jumping off the road at the sight of Khal who really doesn't give sh*t about em.. Sometimes I think he sees himself as an human being. I take him on regular walks because the tendency of Khal gaining weight is high within a week of not walking...... I don't want a fat dog. Lol.

And by the way... A rottweiler is not for first time owners please.
Never heard of a "calm" Rott.
I liked your narration about Khal. Made him sound like a bro next door.
I am seriously liking the dog.
You are lucky - you have a true and loyal pal for the next couple of years smiley

Seems Khal is not an alpha male. Mine was an alpha, very ugly, very aggressive to outsiders and very territorial. Despite the fact that our cleaner had been visiting since he was a wee pup, he always barked up a storm that could be heard all around the neighborhood anytime she came into the compound. As long as you are not a member of his family (us), you are his enemy. As he grew bigger, he graduated to running to the gate and shaking it with pure menace when strangers knocked at the gate. Even when he was dying of poison, he still managed to mark a few areas in the compound before crawling under the vehicle and falling into a coma. He fought with death for close to 24 hours and even in a coma, it took two people to restrain him as he fought and cried in pain.

It's almost a month now but water still comes out of my eyes (like now) each time I remember Gift. He did not deserve the way he died. He loved and protected us with a single minded fierceness.

The last pic is him in a coma in the early hours of the morning. He died at almost midnight of that same day. My heart still bleeds.

Jeez! Do you mean Gift has bitten the dust..?
Eeeya.. I read about her on that thread you opened..
Sorry for your loss Ishi...
What a pity..

WHEN I WAS IN SCHOOL, I WAS THOUGHT NOT TO USE "HE" OR "SHE" FOR AN ANIMAL. RATHER I SHOULD USE "IT". SO WHEN YOU CALL THAT DOG OF YOURS A BOY, HOW COME YOU HAVE TWO LEGS AND IT HAS FOUR? AND YOU BOTH HAVE DIFFERENT FEATURES?

IN THIS NATION, ALL I CAN SAY IS RIP TO ENGLISH!!!!!!
lol,he is just being affectionate with his dog.

But this thread is about my boy, Khal.

He's an indoor dog... He's just like the last born in the house.. Lol.. Yeah.. He's that integrated.

NevetsIbot:
His character?

* perfect temperament. Khal will show no sign of aggression until you attack someone from his family or a random kid. The real hero.

*He'd back up an intruder into a corner and stay there with him until someone from inside comes to let him in.

* You're a friend if you talk to anyone in his family... Should you start a fight even after being accepted by him.. You're a threat.

I was out with him on a walk when I met someone I know... We stood to have a talk while Khal sat quietly beside me... Another man joined and along the line, he said "But this your dog seems stupid... He didn't bark at me when I came"

I asked him if that was his orientation of what a good dog is and asked him to push my chest and see what the dog would do".... Hahahah

* Visits every one in their room every morning and has a quick morning nap on my bed.

* Understands every command you can think of... Go out, too rough., bad boy, good boy, stay, go, Call Peter... Etc

* If he needs to urinate, he'd pick his belt up and bring it to anyone to take him out.

* He's friends with chickens... And will stand his ground when we meet any other dog that wants to attack him... His massive head has always discouraged any other dog though.

Attached Is a picture of Khal after a quick bath and another picture of Khal and Peter having a Bro moment at a balcony

Mine also have similar temperament, unless you provoke her or attack anyone close to her. Agera is her name, a direct descendant from the bloodline of Tk's New Yorker.

It's just that you might not have enough experience to deal with a very self willed dog.. The rottweiler breed is a breed that has their own mind and it takes a very stern owner to let them know that not all their wants or wills will be granted

Some rotts I see these days don't have box heads and I sometimes wonder if they're even close to the pure breed
