@wearsandtrends1 julius caesar held almost absolute power, but he was not an emperor . The first roman emperor was his nephew, octavian caesar (caesar augustus). Julius descended also from a lineage of priests . Also,of all the 52 or so stabs, only one was lethal, and that was what killed arguably one of the foremost men who helped shape this modern times .

I will think Alexander the great, militarily is more successful and got all these conquest done at very young age. Julius become powerful through military and that earned him also a political position to Senate thru which he rose to become an emperor.

I would rather you compare Julius Ceaser to Augustus Ceaser (Octavian), which of them is more successful?
well said sir.
on that basis i totaly agree with u

many valid points...
indeed he was not yet the emperor, but as you may already know, he was military leader and and head f the senate...
and was already being refferenced as the emperor before his death

you are correct, world history is vastly edited to favour a " particular group "
1. They did not tell us that the old Assyrians and Jews were dark skinned just like the Egyptians.
Syrian king konon
of Dura - Europos and all his family were black ( from archeological evidence such as paintings) you can google it.

2. There were many evidences of black presence in the Americas before Christopher Columbus discovered the place, many years before the transatlantic slave trade.

3 The influence of moors in the Iberian peninsula has been massively downplayed by modern history curriculum.

4. how on earth would mungo park discover river Niger? a river that has been in existence thousands of years before his birth of Mungo Park in Scotland or Columbus discovering Americas despite stating in his books he met many "indigenous people" in most island waiving at his ship......maybe "discovery" means another thing entirely
it would be better if it is written like this "colombus discover Americas for the Portuguese" , going to someone's house and telling them that their orange tree is orange is a subtle way of saying they are dumb.
oga that ignoramus does not get half the things u just mentioned.... smeone wh belives plato is a myth?

I think you're referring to an Encyclopedia.
While in university I used to have latest version of Microsoft encarta where I spent most of my time on the history part. I enjoy the 3D illustrations and voice notes in some of the stories. But I think it was discontinued in 2009 or so.
But you can wiki almost anything now and good thing is wiki would usually suggest like stories
Okay, I will check it out there then

grin grin grin grin grin

Have heard the story of Achelles (don't know if I got the spelling right), a decorated fighter who only died due to a single injury on his feet (an arrow which neutralised him).

All I am saying is that the man is not a fluke but a decorated Roman war general. He might have not have died from those stabs. Throughout the stabbing, he never succumbed (was still standing and staggering... I don't know if you know that) till the last stab by Brutus (Even at that, before his death, he still died honourably by using his shwal to cover his face in order to maintain his honour and diginty as a Roman Emperor).

All in all, there is a possibility that his death is triggered by another thing other than the physical dagger stabs.

Achilles you mean.
Achilles was half god and half mortal. When Achilles was born, Thetis dipped Achilles into the Styx River to make him immortal. By doing so, Thetis had to hold Achilles by the heel of his foot, leaving the heel of his foot the only portion of his body mortal, which was where Paris shot his arrow though other versions of the story makes us believe that Apollo guided this arrow
My point is to differentiate Achilles from Gaius Ceasar who was a Roman Aristocrat trying to end the Republican nature of administration into becoming an empire ruled by an emperor. The Romans and senates didn't want that and that's why he was assassinated

Yeah ..though Cleopatra's beauty was alluring plus Rome needed the finance from Egypt to further their expansion campaigns. But not enough reasons to trivialise the good wife he had
From what I read Cleopatra was not that beautiful ,she just had that sexual charm and knows how to manipulate men.
And she was just too good in bed .

Some scholars argue that Ceaser did not exactly die of the collective stab wounds, but rather died as a result of the shock, that even Brutus, a man he had trusted with all his heart, partook in the conspiracy, hence giving up immediately after saying those words. smiley
He would have died but not immediately ,but the shock from the betrayal killed him earlier.... undecided

Ides of March or no Ides of March, Julius Caesar would still have been killed. The plot against him was too thick and God save you if one of your enemies is a person you love like Brutus. grin

Yes, dipped him 7 times in the river as a form of dedication to the river goddess.

I was only trying to let him know that, such person could not have been killed by ordinary stabbing otherwise the numerous wars he partook in would have undone him.

As for Gaus, though I don't know much about him, but for him to install cleopatra as a emperor of Egypt displacing her younger brother of 8 years, nearly lost his influence and war, when cleopatra sibling teem up with another Roman General and troops to declare war on Egypt (to reclaim the throne), as well as being declared someone with absolute power (after overcoming the others) thereby unifying Rome is no mean feat.

Except if the Ceaser I know of is different from the one being discussed here.

Don't be mistaken both of them had a similar quest. And when u consider the impact of their conquest Ceasar is greater
Well Alexander never had the chance to consolidate the territories he conquered but in terms conquering vast territories, Alexander comes first.

To some extent true. I know from the documentary I watch once that Queen Nefetiti is the most beautiful Egyptian queen but with little recognition, little information about her and she dying a shameful death (probably).

She is far beautiful than Cleopatra, but Cleopatra is the greatest seductress ever to come out of Egypt.

Lovely write-up,but i need to set some things straight .
1 . Julius gaius caesar was not an emperor . He was a dictator .
2 . That statement is disputed by historians .
3 . He was not from a poor home .

Please these corrections do not in any way diminish your outstanding work in making us revisit history, just try to always get your facts right .
There's almost no difference between emperors and dictators, an emperor is a dictator self so there's really not much problem in that.

Did you read what you just wrote grin ? Come on bro, many men would suicide on such a lady you know. The curves and edges alongside the high sexual appeal. Then she come wicked for bed ontop, haba naw, you sef reason am na. That's if I'm to go by what you said

However, she was a woman of surpassing beauty, and at that time, when she was in the prime of her youth, she was most striking; she also possessed a most charming voice and a knowledge of how to make herself agreeable to every one. Such that after Ceasar's death, Mark Antony married her then Ptolemy XIV of Egypt also married her and you dare say she wasn't that beautiful lol. This post just brought back the memories of the movie "Cleopatra".
Such and interesting movie.

And anytime I remember the movie, I weep for Africa. Egypt would have been a reference point when talking about power, wealth and development, see where she is now.
