I saw a series of pictures trending on social media in South Africa today.

These were pictures of a family sharing a meal together, but this was not your ordinary meal. In this beautiful family, everyone has their own plate of samp and a roasted full chicken.

Some have found it amusing as others found it touching.

I don't like chicken, therefore I'm not tripped.

But wait... Does she have a poultry to be able to offer everyone a full chicken?? Looks strange.

My problem is not one chicken per meal. Buhari should just reverse himself in every wrong step he has taken in Nigeria and watch me eat two chickens at my every meal.

Right now, to chop chicken wing is even hard, na ponmo we dey take augment body.

I know one day, it will all make sense and I will be extremely happy it did.

Cholesterol, obesity loading.... Too much of anything is bad, a lap or chicken wing is pk for lunch or breakfast, not a full chicken. I beg I will pass thanks.

When I buy pork off butchers, I weigh it. I don't care to weigh my beef.

My chicken goes for N440/pound while Pork is N500/pound.

Sellers of beef are scammers. Meat is overpriced in Nigeria.

You're right, beef and lamb are often very expensive in a lot of countries. I don't understand why it is so for lamb but cows tend to live longer and consume a lot of food so that costs the farmer more.

In SA, we produce a lot of our own chicken and add to that a lot of other countries like Brazil and the US are accused of dumping chicken in the market, so there's an oversupply.

As for Nigeria I would have thought perhaps fish would be the cheapest especially in coastal areas like Lagos because I see there's a large informal trade of fishermen, so that would definitely drive down prices. But inland regions I suppose the issue would be like you described.
