It was obj who crippled his political relevance. When considering somebody from the South south to pick to lead, as compensation for the huge contribution of the region to the Nigerian economy since the oil boom and independence era, Donald Duke would have been a better pick but obasanjo went for Jonathan instead. He was considering amaechi's predecessor Odili but people said he almost looted rivers dry and was corruption so he shouldn't go there.

Had obj considered Duke, maybe he would have done better than jonathan, given his vibrant ideas but then obj too was shopping for an errand boy to succeed him. Unfortunately, it backfired as Jonathan turned himself against him.

After decades of mistakes we know blame one particular region for our problems when our tribesmen are the one ruling our various states and representing us at the national level.

Akwa ibom is only propaganda. I won't waste my time posting photos . Cross river is 3 times larger than Akwa ibom and receives the least allocation while Akwa ibom receives highest. Everything Akwa ibom is trying to build like airport ,seaport,Flag,Golf resort,conference center etc, Calabar already has and planning to build new ones. stadium and airline never last if built or run by government. show me the ibom airline in 3 years .
private and multinational investors are trooping to Calabar and currently building factories and other projects but it never reaches nairaland front page. Apart from the existing mobil, Tell me just one multinational or investors in Akwa ibom apart from the government built propaganda . Nigeria lacks maintenance culture and most Nigerians don't pay tax for maintenance . Once a place experiences little development ,everyone runs there and destroy the place. Now it's Uyo's turn. Nigerian cities are what I call one hit wonders,they reign for a period and fade, Just as Calabar was popular from late 90s to 2010s. Though Calabar has always been a historic tourist city with beautiful culture and nature , and Calabar has existing advantages and potential of being revived to worldclass mega city. Uyo does not have Calabar's depth of surviving long without attention, it was only lucky to be given a face lift due to high oil prices then.
Just as Ibadan built cocoa house in the 1960s ,I foresee Uyo may not see another highrise like the 20 story in decades, while Calabar already has numerous highrises and other projects being planned by private sector.
