The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) Published Internally Generated Revenue at State level for Half Year 2020. The 36 states and FCT IGR figure hits N612.87bn in H1 2020 compared to N693.91bn recorded in 2019. This indicates a negative growth of -11.7% year on year. The report noted that the Q2 2020 states and FCT IGR figure hit N259.73bn compared to N353.14bn recorded in Q1 2020. This indicates a negative growth of -26.5% quarter on quarter on the backdrop of the adverse effect of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Again, Lagos State maintains the first spot - Lagos State recorded the highest IGR of N204.5 billion, representing 33.37 per cent of the total IGR figure, followed by Rivers State with N64.58 billion, which represents 10.54 per cent of the total Internally Generated Revenue. - FCT Abuja, Delta State and Ogun followed with N35.2 billion or 5.74 per cent, N30.8 billion or 5.03 per cent and N28.6 billion, representing 3.86 per cent of the total IGR respectively. - Oyo, Kano, Akwa Ibom, Kaduna and Edo ranked sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth, generating N17.77 billion (2.90%), N17.51 billion (2.86%), N16.21 billion (2.65%), 14.55 billion (2.37%) and N14.01 billion representing 2.29 per cent of the IGR respectively. Jigawa generated the least Internally Generated Revenue of N3 billion, followed by Ekiti with N3.2 billion, Adamawa with N3.75 billion and Gombe with N3.78 billion. - Despite recording the largest share, the Internally Generated Revenue of south-west states dropped marginally by 0.3 per cent as states recorded N205.1 billion in H1 2019. The IGR recorded in the second quarter was less than what was generated in the first quarter. According to the report, states generated N353.14 billion in the first quarter and N259.73 billion in the second quarter. - Despite recording the largest share, the Internally Generated Revenue of south-west states dropped marginally by 0.3 per cent as states recorded N205.1 billion in H1 2019.the effect of lockdown on the economy. Surely the South west would be affected most cos that is the major gateway into and out of the nation. |

Seerade029:The Lockdown starting at the end of the first quarter and extending through the whole second quarter of the year is the major cause why it dropped. Ordinarily, one would expect the revenue to drop more than this recorded |

Good thing they did not report any negative about Lagos or they will be threatened to retract and apologize. NBS lacks credibility, since they retracted Lagos state debt, have they told Nigerians what the real debt of Lagos is? |
