i would say the death by starvation of igbos was carried out jointly by the british and the nigerian govt - the british were the enablers while the nigerian govt were the enforcers.

Very similar to the joint effort of NATO and the NTC in the ousting of Qadaffi.

the igbos were genuinely fighting for a legitimate cause but because that cause did not serve any useful purpose for the british they were left to die at the hands of the nigerian troops.

What was the difference between Biafra (1967-1970) and Vietnam (same time)?
The two had a taste of hell, but one was able to beat back the aggressor while the other crumbled and disintegrated to pieces!
Looking at all the pictures and videos, i see no difference between what happened in My Lai and Asaba (massacre)
Biafra was already HELL second home at that time.
Oh! of course they'd have become a communist state, at least their dream of sovereignty would have been realised,
The people that died wouldn't have died in vain.
The secret of every war is getting a powerful ally to counter the force stacked against you and at that time, that force was USSR.
Nigeria getting USSR behind them was a master stroke, and they reaped the reward in military hardware.

Yes is was!
I think Ifeajuna wanted to topple Ojukwu in a coup, and Nzeogwu never really supported secession.
Both ended up as snags to Biafra's march forward. Imagine fighting a civil war and worrying about coup.
That is why Ojuwku was very security conscious during the war. He was hunted by Nigerians who were seeking to drop bombs on his hideout, and some compromised Igbos. It wasn't an easy war.
I still wonder how Ojukwu was able to fight that war. There was too much treachery and sabotage.
It was by far easier for him not to even bother about starting the war. But Easterners pushed him to war. When it started, some of them started to sabotage him from day one, trying to kill him.

Yes, and he was among the first Igbos whose actions introduced the term "sabo" into the Biafran language then.
Sabo stayed active throughout the war.

I see some of them whose fathers played that role then coming here to attack and insult Ojukwu.

I wonder what it would have cost Ojukwu to simply call Gowon before the beginning of hostilities to bow down to him and play dead. He would probably have been retired from the army and join his fathers huge company and make all the money he wants.
But, you need to read about the events of July to October 1966 to understand why Igbos respect Ojukwu for leading them to war even if they lost. The killing of Igbos and Easterners in the military would not have stopped. Never.
The man's life is a proof that honor is far more valuable than money. He is our icon.

Nzeogwu never wanted secession. I think Ifeajuna wanted to complete the January 66 coup and impose his political regime.

By that time, the Biafran Expeditionary Force had lost steam. Perpetually in retreat, the disorganized army accosted a civilian mob in Benin. Here many miles away from their forward locations in Ore, this frustrated army was suddenly visited by an inexplicable epidemic. Soldiers were perambulating on swollen stomachs as a result of poisoned rations, served to them by hostile natives. This mystic ailment was the last straw, the end of the road. Eventhough they were disappointed, having been denied action in the battlefield, they would have preferred the soldier's death in the trenches.

From that Benin to Asaba was, therefore, a flight of the desperados. Like the French General, Charles De Gaulle, after the surrender of Paris to the German Panza Division, Banjo was a General without an army! "
