What you have just said is in contrast to the realities in ground within communities on the bank and sorrounding areas of the river. As we speak flooding of the communities has commenced and residents are fleeing their villages to safer.areas.

Without dredging of the river how can this possibly stop. Without dredging the river we should expect only badges to berth at the Onitsha port which adds to costs there. Ships can berth there if the river is dredged.

This government should ensure the safety of the citizens around those areas by doing the only proper thing - dredge the river. Dredging enables proper channelization of the river and end of flooding. We must never try to turn the truth on its head.

And it's our right to request for the dredging to help eliminate the constant flooding in the surrounding area.
