Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun, has secured the release of three EndSARS protesters who were arrested in the state, IgbereTV reports.

The police in Ogun State on Monday, October 12, charged the three #EndSARS protesters with attempted murder and vandalizing a Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle worth N100 million. The three protesters identified as Adeniji Sodiq (25), Mutairu Faruq (19), and Olatoye Joseph (23) were also accused of using dangerous weapons during the protest.

In the suit, marked M/SC/29/2020, the police preferred four charges against the protesters.

Some of the charges read:

“That you, Adeniji Sodiq ‘m’, Mutairu Faruq ‘m’, Olatoye Olalekan Josep ‘m’ on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid magisterial district did attempt to kill one Ajagbusi Taofik ‘m’ by hitting him with dangerous weapons and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 320(1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.

That you, Adeniji Sodiq ‘m’, Mutairu Faruq ‘m’, Olatoye Olalekan Josep ‘m’ on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid magisterial district did unlawfully and maliciously damaged Lexus 570 Bullet proof 2019 model valued N100, 000, 000 property of one Alhaji Olabode Kacheef Oyedele ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 451 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.”

The police had applied for an ex parte order to detain the three protesters for 60 days to allow them to investigate the case thoroughly. However, the court ordered that they be detained for 14 days.

In a post shared on Twitter, Governor Abiodun says he has directed the State Attorney General to drop all charges against the protesters and that they are to be released immediately.

His statement reads:

''On my instruction, the Attorney General has reviewed the evidence in the investigation case file in respect of the three suspects that were remanded in a custodial centre on 12 October 2020."

"Ogun State has decided not to charge them with any offence. They are to be released immediately."

After the intervention of Governor Abiodun, the three protesters were released.

Announcing their release, Ogun State Government tweeted:

"PICTURED: The remaining 3 arrested #EndSARS protesters released just now, following the intervention of the Ogun State Governor, @dabiodunMFR .

Once again, His Excellency has ensured justice prevailed.

Sara's are not our problem. Senators, legislatures, politician and judges are. Buhari failed to fire IG for failure the police or Sars get the blame.
The police is supposed to have an internal affairs officers that travel around monitoring the conducts and activities of the police, you don't need a genius to figure that out.

The IG failed to do that and the foolish president refuses to fire the incompetent IG both are incompetent obviously.
The president is our problem not the Sars, because if the president was firing IGs they would sit up. This government continue to reward failure, we have another clueless president in Buhari.

The governor has spoken and that is all that matters at this point.
Thumbs up to Gov Abiodun, the people's governor.

What I will love to really protest about is arresting, and pressing charges against eash and every evil SARS Officials that have maimed or killed any innocent Nigerians, and make sure the police force compensate the families of such people. that will deter many of their colleagues from towing the same devilish way.
#EndSarsBrutality

And we still have many people behaving as SARS from the corners of their homes....

see as dem don give Koko for the eye of that one in the middle because he's a Man U fan or cos he wore the jersey.

the hate on the club alone is enough to protest in Nigeria.

those that tortured him must be Tottenham's fans.

You're right. Its not only the IG but the
Army Chiefs etc

The National Assembly has repeatedly passed votes of no confidence in the security leaders, in their ineffective fight against boko haram, in this country but Buhari sticks with them because they are all inept like him

Hmm! If Buhari fails to do something about the state of the nation at this point in time, this might be the real 'change' we have been talking about. This is year 2020, not 1994. This is supposed to be a democracy, not military rule. This 'whoever can die' attitude of his will do more harm than good.
