"In 2012, he announced his intention not to extend his contract," Wenger said. "All the big clubs were courting him. I sold him to Manchester United.
"The supporters were angry with me for this but we could not match the offer. I managed to negotiate his departure for £24 million, which was a huge amount at the time for a player with a year left on his contract. I had only the interest of the club in mind.

Gbh4 DAYS AGO

According to a report I have seen Saka has been dismissed from the England team due to Southgate describing him as a striker and as such was unlikely to play due to the number of players of greater ability in front of him.

Has anyone heard anything, it has been a shock that Niles is regarded as being a better prospect for England.

Saka was given no favours in the England match as the player behind constantly chose to send the ball to the other side of the pitch.

There is a perception within the games reporters and managers, that, despite beating the top two English teams and giving gritty performances ,that Arsenal and it's players are sub standard ,and that teams who's players have lost games by numerous goals, are somehow better than Arsenal's. Saka is a prime example, he was not regarded by the other players as part of the team.

Culled
Sky Sports

I noticed this also and wondered if they had an issue with Saka being in the team. They just refused to pass the ball any where near him.

This is part of the issues Africans face when the opt for countries not their own.

You people just like to unnecessarily pull the race card.
This has nothing to do with his African heritage or being black, it's just the coach(Southgate) being clueless on his team selections and how to use the players.
What will you now say about Grealish. Shebi Grealish is black too ba. Pleased, let's learn to stop pulling the race card unnecessarily when things don't go our way, it's now loosing substance, and people won't take the real victims of racism serious anymore, cos they will tag them alarmists, because others have abused it

Thomas is Welcome.

For those saying He should be paired along side Elneny, hope you know Elneny is a back passer more than a forward passer. And he doesn't know how to locate Ceb better than the very Xhaka that's underperformning too. Just that he's the more composed of the two. Using the WBs formations with such midfield at disposal would be a very very sweet idea. Auba please o.

Your excuse on Southgate did not explain why Saka wasn't seeing the ball as he should. Was it Southgate that asked his players not to pass to Saka or the players took the decision themselves? Either way, you made no point.

Lol... But what timay said is true. How many matches did saka play for you(or them) to bring out that race card ish.

I guess if grealish was African, and he's been benched for Mount et al, the race card ish would have popped up how a talented grealish is African that's why he can't near the team.

Please, let's see a considerable trend before we'll conclude that saka is been alienated on the pitch and not just two matches

That Torres no even impress me the first game he play sef. I couldn't see the reason for his hype, he just looked like another waste of money by Guardiola. Hopefully he will prove me wrong at a later date and not today sha.

I like that Foden boy, he Sabi ball.

Yeah, me too. Watching Torres play didn't impress me. I still think he'll need to adjust to the league first, just like sane did before exploding. So for now, I don't see him influential in games.

I like foden of a boy, the guy is good. But I don't see him (yet) as someone who can command games or influence games like the way greenwood does for man u(not talking about positional play but their influence to game, so I don't get misunderstood).
So that's why I asked those teasing question. Of those trio, na only B Silva I fear

If you want to beat Man city comot KDB, Da Silva and Sterling nd for God so good the trio seems not be available...

Wait oh, them still get B.silva, Aguero and Mahrez this Pep self nah mad man oh see as e squad still mad we gonna die there grin

I am not concluding that there was racial prejudice, I am only hypothesising which should be the same approach by timay.

The case with Grealish was that of selection but what I observed with Saka was avoidance. They didn't want to pass to him.

Lol.. As long as Aguero and kdb will not(or might not) play, I'm good mehn!!
I didn't say we will win tho, but the threats will be very very minimal. The mahrez, foden, b.Silva, we go fit drag am.

The man city team I mostly fear is D. Silva, Aguero, kdb, kompany and sane.
Now this 5 aren't around maybe except kdb who might play(since Aguero is still very much injured).
Anybody wey dem wan bring, na level ground we dey so oo grin grin

lol.. Yeah. Tbh, we're saying same thing. It's too early to say such. At least let's see 2-3 Intl break matches and if such trend continues, we can start the hypothesis. This is just the first Intl break, and making such hypothesis is so so early (esp using the racial card stuff). Mind you, most of those guys, saka would have played with them either for or against at youth level. So it's way early and wrong to start doing hypothesis that his teammates aren't passing to him

N.b.... On a side/light note sha.

Do you remember any season arsenal players refuses to pass to Ramsey?? grin cheesy

Saka's case is not racial at least. I think they feel he have not reach. smiley

As for Ramsey, there was a season his fellow players didn't want him to score. It seems they lose a friend whenever he does. It was widely rumoured.

chai. .the good old days. Should we call it coincidence or what? Anytime Ramsey scores,a celebrity must die. I don't think it still happens in Juventus though.
