Okay Okay. I'm getting an upgrade ASAP. I use A56, which I have been enjoying for a while now and I have been planning to change it. I'll go for S16.

I use S16 and it is the best affordable phone i've ever used. Why not try the S16 pro? Great specs!!!

Sir, phones are made into different ranges to meet consumer needs and requirements. Everybody can not use an iPhone 11 or a Samsung Galaxy S20 that's why there are variants for us to choose from. There are entry level devices that are "High-end, Mid-range and Low-end". This one ranks at Mid-range entry level and I'm sure that the manufacturer will agree with me when I say that they did a good job with it considering the price. 20k is not too steep so I wonder what type of spec you're hoping to get for a 20k phone.

Guy, i'm not talking about iphone or samsung. These stupid brands are cheating us in africa. They make good phones in china, if you check some of the phone made available in asian markets they are far better than the shitty phones they sell here.

This one is a pocket friendly phone. There're other Itel phones with nice specs and of course, the price won't be the same. It depends on what you can afford.

I ain't talking about affordability bro, all these chinese brands are cheating us.

My brother, before you call them "shitty", remember that these brands carry out market surveys. Speaking by the fact that entry level devices are mostly patronised by people of rural settlements, those regions are where their surveys will base. When you ask an average rural Joe what he wants in a phone, do you think he knows jack about processors and RAM? His needs will be basic and that is what these companies offer. However, an average rural "Cheung" who obviously is more educated will demand better RAM and processing units. Joe and Cheung are both products of their environments.

So in the long haul, they're giving us what we want. Why "waste" additional RAM when the consumers will not even be able to tell the difference? Do you now understand my point?

Whatever type of phones sold in China or Asian Markets are available in Nigeria except those specifically made for their market based on some factors. Some phones are made for low income earners while some are for high earners. So, if you have you money you can buy any one. Itel has some good phones too based on your budget.

That's exactly what I was trying to tell him. Most tech enthusiasts know this but some of them just prefer to talk down on brands that are actually doing them a favour. These phones are very affordable and the specs are wonderful for a budget device.

How though?

The Nigerian market is quite unique, and don't forget, we are a low income people. Lot's of these specs would mean added prices, so some need to be dialed down for important specs such as battery cap, screen and camera to be optimized.

My point exactly.

Brands like itel are somewhat wholly dedicated to the low income consumers and to make budget smartphones, some concessions need to be made to provide room for the main, most important specs to be optimized. Like in Nigeria, where power is whack, u gats to have big batteries etc.

On another note, I think he knows but he's just being mischievous.

Mischievous indeed! He made a big deal out of an honest comment. It's pocket friendly considering the price tag.

People buy phones for different reasons and unfortunately, life isn't balanced for everyone to go high-end. Therefore people buy products to suit specific needs and this comes in handy.

They can.
They are the tech company afterall bro, they'll get some aspects of their engineering right.

But a budget smartphone is a budget smartphone; it is what it is.

It was built to serve this purpose.

Chinese phones are mostly available here in Nigeria, and itel is no exception.

U feel itel will be as dumb to make over the top, high end devices and limit them to China?

I guess not.

Nigeria is a goldmine for all things budget and these companies understand this. But "Budget" means an exclusion of some specs, so other specs could be optimized.
