Hello folks. Please I'll be brief about this. My mum was one of the client of an insurance company. ( I will protect them for now). However, she passed on some couple of months back. The family have now started processing her benefits from the insurance company since August and all the documents they were asked to provide have been provided. However, till now the insurance company have refused to pay. They keep promising that they would pay but that has not been the case. At the moment, they have stopped picking our calls and responding to our messages. I am planning to go to there office again at ikoyi tomorrow. What do you guys advice I do because I am very pissed now. Seems those guys are scammers after all. But I need advice before I make this people trend for the wrong reasons on Twitter

Going to their office might not be enough.

Involve a lawyer.

I know a lawyer who quickly got a 700k settlement after an insured guy scratched his car.

Judt ask the lawyer to write them first.

There's no mention of when it happened. He probably wasn't a government official then for them to get away with it because now as Deputy Governor with the retinue of security and convoy attached to him, they dare not!

Don't doubt the man despite being a politician in the opposition because I experienced something similar from SARS some years ago but never mentioned it to anyone back then except my dad whom I was making an expensive delivery for.

Interestingly, I've been supporting the #EndSARS, #EndPoliceBrutality and #SoroSoke movement, as well as feeling sorry for the victims of Police Brutality without ever remembering what they did to me back then until minutes ago while wondering why you could doubt the man's account simply because he is a politician. Now, I understand what prompts rape victims of yesteryears to recall and narrate their experiences.

Now, I will briefly narrate mine. Some years ago, SARS Officers dressed in mufti stopped the vehicle I was using to convey goods along a major road in Lagos. Despite being afternoon, there was no name tag or police jacket on them that I could have used to identify them, so I decided to confirm their identity before replying their questions when we were pulled over. Much younger and naïve of how most SARS Officers behave, I requested for their Government ID. If only I knew the ID that would be presented to me, God knows that I wouldn't have bothered to ask.

I received an "ID" containing a resounding slap that left one of my ears partly deaf for many days, as the ear couldn't just stop producing it's own sound while preventing me from hearing actual sound coming from people and other things around me.

That was not all. I was practically robbed, before one of them later decided to give me a small amount from the money they took (stole) from me before allowing me to proceed with the vehicle. These people were much older than me for crying out loud, worst is the fact that they were Government Officials who swore to protect and serve the citizens. I left that spot so sad and totally disoriented because I couldn't believe that I just experienced that in my own country.

I'm still wondering why I could have forgotten such an experience amidst these protests. Your doubt strangely triggered my memory. Fela is right. Many Nigerians are Suffering and Smiling. May we all be redeemed from the bondage.
