Thanks. I need more suggestions. Myself, am planning on planting plantain on the three plots of land cos of my work schedule. I won't be able to do a day to day work on the farm. I need something more passive on the long run.

Since you won't be regular on your farm.
plantain is good.
But you need to consider plants that are lucrative as at now.
Crops lucrative in this period on my own list are:
Watermelon.
Cucumber.
Okra.
Tomato
Vegetables.
Maize.
These crops require much human care.
Do please research if plantain is lucrative as at now

He should better be aware of what it entails not that he will have to sell as fresh corn which doesn't command a good price or after harvest he starts running from pillar to post.

Are you sure having to dry and store is worth it for maize of just 3 plots?

rice can be planted on three plot of land and after harvesting ,it yield maximum profit

we have done all those crop and beyond,the best crop rfor that size of land with limited care and human interference /management,also gives higer economic output than plantain and all other crop,what you need to look for is the giant Cavendish bananas or saro Cavendish bananas,the economic value of one banana bunch can only be matched by 3-4 plantains.the suckers are more costly for a reason.imagine if you have 200 banana crops like that in the pic,each bunch is not less than #4-5k.

Am not good with this estimation. You can go ahead and break it down so I can understand it well.


Its a small plot of land, so for plantain, I would need to use 2m by 2m spacing.

And what quantity do you apply in a month?

we use pig manure as the farm is behind a piggery farm,so the manure is poured in without measurement

I am a novice when it comes to tomatos,but that will soon change because we are doing tomato nursery vnext week for 3 plots of land fully drip irrigated,why don't you play safe and use proven varieties in Nigeria like vplatinum,Padma,cobra,garnhar,jarra,Maxim,sakata emerald,etc
