It's unfortunate that the situation has reached this level. However, Nigerian army acted within the ambience of the law.

Section 33 sub 2 of Nigerian constitution has justified their act:

The section states;
(2) A person shall not be regarded as having been deprived of his life in contravention of this section, if he dies as a result of the use, to such extent and in such circumstances as are permitted by law, of such force as is reasonably necessary –

(a) for the defence of any person from unlawful violence or for the defence of property:

(b) in order to effect a lawful arrest or to prevent the escape of a person lawfully detained; or

(c) for the purpose of suppressing a riot, insurrection or mutiny

you're quoting the constitution, did any police thought about it before brutalizing us... I am a victim of both soldiers and police brutality so I don't have any remorse they can do what ever they want to do...

When things settle, some people will commit suicide due to their losses, some will suffer mental break down, some will die due to being even more impoverished than they were before the rioting and infrastructural destructions.

You may not get it. Perhaps this will help: during the top of Covid, governments around the world were at a conundrum whether to let COVID run its course or whether to intervene. Governments understood that letting COVID run its course in the hope that society may attain herd immunity will still result in many lives lost but the economy would be somewhat safeguarded. Conversely intervening in COVID would save lives but lead to recession and that the resultant poverty dye to recession will lead to many deaths. In the end, many Governments erred on the side of intervention. They did this not because more lives would be saved this way but because it was the moral decision the public would understand. The people are only able to sympathies with deaths that they obviously attaché to tangible thing like Covid. Just as you, smiliyB, sympathies with deaths caused by police or state action. The public are unable to identify with deaths that are indirectly caused by the same symptom. Just as you do not see that the actions of the rioters racing through Lagos, destroying property and impoverishing Lagos will result in deaths too, many more future deaths actually.
