Then you are good to go. She has indicated that your mum is her mum on her affidavit. She has also filled your details in her applicationas as her sibling. I believe you have nothing to be worried about. I would say please go ahead.
Ok thanks for your help

Hello Good People,

Please I'm about to start the process. I have a cousin who's a Canadian Citizen. Our mothers are siblings but she grew up in my parents house so she is more or less my mother's daughter. Can I indicated her as a sibling when applying? She has no issue with this and is willing to support.

[s]see this link, you can search for "sister" or "adoption".......the answer you seek is there.[/s]

Scratch this....pls read link below in conjunction with updated post.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/permanent-residence/express-entry/applications-received-on-after-january-1-2016-completeness-check.html

Proof of the relationship of the applicant or the accompanying spouse or common-law partner to the family member must also be provided (e.g., a birth certificate, an official document naming the applicant as a relative, a copy of the inside back cover of the relative’s passport showing the relative’s parents’ marriage certificate, legal adoption documents and any other documents that prove or describe the relationship).

Hi Mamaroon, I think since her cousin(sister) didn't mention adoption in her own application(unless she did), there will be no need to bring it up now. As far as CIC is concerned, her cousin's biological mum is same as her mum. Also, she needs to confirm if her cousin has been consistent throughout her application in indicating that her aunt is her mum. If she has, then she really doesn't need to bring up adoption since her affidavit indicates her aunt being her mum.

Fam, don't be offended when asked to read page 1 or canada.ca or cic.gc.ca. He who refuses to read and goes by hearsay alone, may likely pay for it dearly.

There's one scripture that says: If you keep being stubborn, after many warnings, you will suddenly discover, you have gone too far. Prov 29.1

May that not happen to any of us.

Crespo Baba......I am not a lawyer o, but I do not think an affidavit answers every issue...I may be wrong though.

If affidavits were a "cure all", then applicants adopting young children would be swearing affidavits instead of going through the legal process to obtain adoption papers. Lawyers in the house help us out........

What stops all other applicants from claiming cousins as siblings using affidavit alone? Enough of us grew up with our siblings.

[s]If her cousin has not been consistent in naming her aunty as her mum in her own application....then neither affidavit nor adoption papers can help.[/s] I would have said "try it" if she is convinced of her position ([s]e.g. that an affidavit can serve as a legal document proving adoption[/s]), but some experiments are so expensive!!!

Even if aunty was stated as cousin's mum on her own application, I am assuming IRCC will need some evidence of "siblinghood" other than the aunty being listed as mum on the cousin's application....again, I may be wrong here.

I have a question about the personal history part for those post ITA and further.

The system automatically puts whatever was filled in for education and employment history to the personal history part. Technically since only 10 years continuous years of personal history is required, can I take away the education part given that it happened way more than ten years ago?

Also what start month 10 years ago would suffice if I filled in that part today? Oct 2010?

Thanks.

You've said it all. We must be careful when we provide information we're not sure off on this platform because it can lead to problems for the applicant.
A thing like this could be deemed as misrepresentation.
Affidavit can't supplant the adoption papers which the cousin clearly doesn't have. Stating something on an application without evidence means it's not true. That's why they ask for documents e.g IELTS, ECA etc to show what you've stated is true and can be corroborated.
Best to find professional advise than shedding tears later on.

Hello.
Please, did someone from UK then post the PCC to you? If so through what means please?

MissMa01:
I received my UK PCC yesterday , I advise that if you are applying for one you should consider using a UK address to cut the delivery time by half and you won’t have to battle with NIPOST. I applied on October 12th.

Just a friendly advice.

Oh wow. I was surprised mine moved quite fast.
Just be patient. If that's the only document keeping you from entering the pool, maybe send a mail, although I don't know how effective that will be.

I just checked now, It’s still on in line for processing. Today is one week exactly since they acknowledged the transcript after 3 weeks and 3 days of waiting.

After how long did your status change ? They usually respond to emails & their webform but after like 5/6 days , if you call too they’re very receptive but I’ll allow one week more before I bug them.

In line for processing to 'Assessing' took 2 days, then Assessing to final review took 4 days. Been on final review since then.

You don't need the hard copy. The person can scan it to you since your express entry submission would be done online anyway.

She doesn't have a birth certificate but when she was leaving the country, her date of birth affidavit has my mother's name. Does that suffice?

Updated post.

I'm assuming for a minute that there must be some underlying legal docs that supports your cousin's affidavit and also that she has consistently stated you as a sibling and your mum as her mum.

Given the foregoing, has anyone used an affidavit as proof of sibling relationship? See below but it looks like it was accompanied by attestation of birth or baptismal records...guess they were biological siblings.

https://www.nairaland.com/5031893/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/119#76510686

It seems IRCC accept the following as evidence of identity and age (which I guess, helps corroborate sibling relationship): passport, travel doc, birth certificate or "statutory declaration as per IRPR178" (could an affidavit be an acceptable statutory declaration?). It may be advisable to get legal counsel for this though.

If the cousin ( sister)did not name her as sister on her own application there is no need. It wont work. Even if she named her aunt as her mum.
