I'll try to make this as brief as possible. I stopped believing in God finally last year. I grew up in a very religious Christian family, but I became an unbeliever after analysing religion. I'm the only one living with my mother and few weeks ago she engaged me in a discussion about why I'm allowing the devil use me, I told her the Devil is not using me as I don't believe in him either. I went on to carefully explain to her why I think God probably does not exist and even if he does,there is no way to ascertain that Christianity is the right religion amongst other thousands of religions. Honestly I wasn't trying to get her to stop being a Christian or anything I was just trying to let her understand my stand because she has been worried for a long time. That night around 1am I woke up from sleep to hear her crying, I tip toed to her room and saw her kneeling down praying and crying uncontrollably she was actually praying for me and for God to reveal himself to me. Seeing her cry hurt me a lot and I couldn't sleep the rest of the night. Waking up the next morning I noticed she didn't do her normal morning devotion and prayers. I wasn't happy with the development but I ignored her. She came back in the night and still didn't pray. I had to reluctantly ask her why she was no more praying, she coldly replied me saying "Shea you said prayer doesn't work and there is no God" and she walked away. I've been really really upset because I know she can't actually do without religion. This is what she has known all her life, she's a Sunday school teacher. She needs religion because her life is centered on it. My father died Early this year and I'm due to go for NYSC by next month. pls how do I resolve this situation cos it breaks me to see her so sad and dejected and it might be worse when I leave. Should I pretend to have had an encounter with God or something. I really could use some advice here. If you don't have any just avoid the thread.

I was a winners member and have done wofbi LCC. Trust me I've tried to believe but I'm probably far gone and anything religion looks so illogical to me. I'm just concerned about getting her to her normal Christian self. This has nothing to do with me.

i hate religion.... it's fake.... but a relationship with Jesus is REAL.

u were never born again.... so u are currently going thru a woke phase.

no CHURCH can help u.... personal discovery is what u need

as for ur mama.... she will be fine. she too needs to wake up from religion to a living relationship and believe it or not u just helped her to begin her journey of faith

Mummy will get back to Christ..GOD is.more than capable of drawing her back. Absolutely nothing can seperate her from the love of GOD..if u know her friend or pastor, u can share ur concern with them

You actually got it wrong, I mean the whole thing. There is different between religion and spirituality.

If you want to learn about Christ through a former atheist you can search for Dr. David Wood on YouTube. His channel is more exposing Islam and Muhammed but does create content for atheists too.

As for your mummy, leave her first and focus on your disbelief, she will be fine. Don't just exhibit your act of disbelief in her presence.

Go back to God, Christ have been good to you witouth you knowing it.

Tell her GOD does not abandon anyone and he's always on time

We always mistaken reading the Bible and going to church services as being a Christian.

Let me introduce you to the Bible, the word of God is actually the only thing that you should seek. It should be you bread and butter each and every day.

You should look for a place to acquaint yourself with the word of God and you will be surprised by how the word will show himself to you.

Isolate yourself and allow the Holy spirit to direct you... You will come out better and stronger than ever.

Thankfully, no one is coming for your head because you back slide...

I can't tell her I'm joking. I mean I've been irreligious for almost a year now and she knows, she has been preaching to me at every slight chance on the need of me to have a personal relationship with Jesus and all that. The only difference was that I have been ignoring her and only sat down to discuss with her about it 3 weeks ago and that was when all this problem started.
