They can say their employers abandoned them and show clear evidence, so the useless employers can be held accountable... But claiming that Nigerians who didn't employ them abandoned them is just poppycock!!!

When did protesting against poor performance become abandonment??! When did call for reforms become abandonment??!...

If this is the reason why they all conspired to abdicate their sworn duties and leave the nation at the mercy of anarchists, then all police chiefs should and must be arrested and tried for treason!!!

There is no excuse!!! This is unheard of anywhere in the world!!!

So you can lynch them right?

Because SARS harassed and extorted people, the whole youth made monsters out of policemen as if they are not human beings or good ones among the force. As if they are not husbands, fathers, brothers, sons and uncles. If the whole entire Nigerian police was corrupt, you think you will be able to walk on the streets?

On social media, when police were killed by hoodlums alot of Nigerians celebrated their deaths saying "Good for them", "Karma" etc. Now you want them to put their lives on risk for people that don't appreciate them? No wahala. Better call vigilante to come and protect you.

Don't even start that shyt that they are being paid for it. You guys overstretched the Endsars matter even when the FG, State governments and the police promised to do a reform. A reform that 80% of police wanted to repair its damaging image. Get a security man, treat him like crap and accuse him of stealing everytime, let thief come one day, you think he will fight them for you? You are on a long thing.
The truth is, all our police need to be reformed. Only one per cent of them deserves this your story. Except you don't live in Nigeria would you differ. Armed robbers numbering 9 had invaded our apparent in the past, as a newly wedded couple. One of my neighbours called on them after noticing the strange movement in my apartment and what the robbers were heard saying. These officers didn't come until 2 hours later, talking nonese. Thank God nobody was bruised. They packed my wife's jewelleries and drove the brand new car my employer gave me as an official car away. Only a call would draw police to your apartment like flood in a sane clime.

You're probably putting up this story either you're a policeman yourself, or your parent is one. In retrospect, Nigeria never had it good with the police and that was why every region is now looking inwards. A good example is the amotekun. Police is not your friend and the onus is on our government to do the needful by reforming them.

So, police is important huh? the morale of the officers is down already, destroyed by #endsars. it will take a huge reform to bring police back to its former State which we all know was not even up to international standard.

1% is too harsh. Let us give it 30%. My point is that despite all, for a society to function well, there has to be a good relationship between the people and the law enforcement. Look at the policeman in Anambra state who even did a borehole project for the community. I hope the police reform creates a better system that prevents its officers excesses and rewards officers who do a great job.

%97 of the Nigerian police force are unprofessional and they lack proper training.
'

I will say 70% of them. You need to go to Police stations like Milverton and see how well behaved and professional some of them are. I hope the oncoming police reform corrects alot of ills in the system.

Exactly what a psychopathic security institution would do:
Abuse people - antisocial.

WHEN YOUR VICTIMS COMPLAIN:
You abdicate ur responsibility - lack of acceptance of responsibility.
Encourage or sponsor hoodlums to attack and abuse the people - lack of empathy and remorse.

To what end?
So the people u abuse would see ur importance in the society - delusions of grandeur.

The Nigerian Police Force would never change - bunch of psychopaths!

The problem starts with the recruitment process; any institution which does not recruit its personnel via merit, cannot adopt a reward-based system.

True. There is a large percentage of ex-cultists and active cultists in the present police force. Even the man who started NBM became a police commissioner before retiring. Do you know how many bad guys he has used to infiltrate the system? The recruitment process needs to be overhauled.

Those protesters and their admirers who cheered them while they were slaughtering policemen should police the cities. All man for himself. They murdered sleep, let everyone suffer the effects. Now you know the importance of policemen despite their shortcomings

No matter what a citizen does, the policeman is always wrong in your eyes.

You wanted mayhem, now you have it.

There are very few nations in this world where law enforcement and the entire citizenry have a cordial relationship... Even the Almighty America has the bulk of her citizens constantly in discontent or at daggers drawn with law enforcement... So, you haven't really struck a new chord sir.

Yet... How many of these nations do the bulk of law enforcement go AWOL in times of anarchy or when the nation is being overrun by criminals (you clearly have chosen to continue to muddle the line between protesters and hoodlums)??!... At what point during the over one week long protest did protesting youths attack or show acts of violence towards law enforcement??!...
Where in the constitution is it allowed for sworn members of law enforcement to abdicate or totally abandon their duties out of grievance against citizens??!

See... We are adults! Let's post with decorum and objectivity!!! Your prejudice against protests and mass action is way past puerile!

i was shocked!!

Agreed some police men are bad.. But you can not depreciate their efforts in maintaining peace and order in Nigeria with their lives because of few bad eggs...

This guys are under equipped.. With no allowance for special duties.. Works everyday of the week... Buy their expensive kits themselves and at the end .. Goes home with a very poor salary.. Yet they manage to get the job done..

Evan.. The kidnapper... Serial killers.. Notorious cultists.. Known armed robbers.. Traffickers.. Rapists.. etc that they parade almost everytime has now been forgotten..

Its a shame...

My dad always say.. When a woman marries two husbands.. She will know which is better...

So if they can deploy like 30k policemen for a single election, y can't they deploy d same police to handle hoodlums? These have been d criticism many have criticised d govt over d years.

You are delusional.
The EndSARS protests were fully geared at stopping police brutality, not demonizing police. In fact, one of their key demands was for increase in police salaries. These protesters will be helping police take home more legitimate earnings.

All the entire crap you posted is basically saying that police cannot do their job without brutalizing, robbing, abducting and killing innocent people?

Some of you are traitors to your own country.

This was a thread you posted last year lamenting about police killing innocent people and begging for justice. Now others took to the streets to demand justice and cowardice and shame that you couldn’t do that is driving you to cheer on police brutality

You are not typing like an intelligent individual....

The citizens didn't employ the law enforcement!!! Same way they didn't appoint security or army chiefs.

No where is it heard of that law enforcement neglect their sworn duties all because people protest against them and demand their reform.

Come to even think of it... Are they not the main beneficiaries of the protests??! Were their welfare and improvement not part of the demands of the protesters??!.. Due to the protests, these same policemen are about to start living better lives than before. They should even be grateful for the protests, work to protect the protesters!!!

The fact that policemen can't safeguard protesters and weed out hoodlums, or chose not to should make you ashamed and very worried about the state of your nation.

Funny, enough I am not. I have been a victim of unlawful police extortion. Seen victims of police brutality that I know of.
But the fact is that between hoodlums and police, we have to support the police and hope the reform prevents their excesses.
