what sort of advice are you people giving folks who are obvious noobs?

whats this ?

Why would you be advicing him to wipe his chromebook to install debian? Even when the Linux subsystem is an available option?

And if the Chromebook can't run the Linux Subsystem, how the hell is it going to run a full distro?

You most likely did not select your OS during setup

Right click on the virtual machine, edit properties.
Click on CD ROM and then you would see an option to select ISO. This is where you would pick the ISO.

Remember to check the connected tab ontop before closing. So the VM can boot with the connected OS

Let me know how it goes.

Create separate partition and install Windows and Linux, I personally prefer to install Grub Bootloader

At all, I don't like Gnome I prefer Plasma but because of memory consumption I'm sticking to text based window managers

Awesomewm because I want to create my widgets and ui, normally it'd be i3 if not for the C++ knowledge required

Yeah the C++ required is not crazy but since you know C++ then yeah you will like i3, you can try it with conky, glad to see someone using tiling window managers. lol i am stingy with ram
