US ELECTIONS: Supreme Court rejects the mail-ballot bid-Tucker Carlson claims ‘damning’ Biden data lost

The US Supreme Court dealt a blow to Donald Trump’s campaign on Wednesday by granting North Carolina an extended deadline to count mail-in ballots, giving the state until 12 November to calculate its total and overriding Republican objections in a win for state Democrats who are thought to be more likely to vote by post.

The president’s Fox News media ally Tucker Carlson has meanwhile attracted derision after claiming on air that he had “damning” documents about the family of Democratic challenger Joe Biden, whom he accuses of corrupt business dealings overseas, but that he could not broadcast them because they “suddenly vanished” in the mail.

Mr Trump himself was on the campaign trail in Arizona yesterday, where he attacked ex-Homeland Security official Miles Taylor after he came forward and revealed himself to be “Anonymous”, the author of an insider account of the dysfunctional workings of the Trump administration that was published in The New York Times in September 2018.
